"...and it probably was too!To be honest with you, we didn’t find Wuppertal that exciting and having tried the main attraction (the Schwebebahn), I don’t see any reason why we would come back. The short version is that the city centre gives you the feeling the Wuppertal economy is not A+. We decided to divert a little from the very centre and a little to the side, we found the Wagner am Mäuerchen and we were happy we did.The place looked fine, the staff was friendly and service minded and in the end we got good food too. All in all just what we needed.If I remember correctly my girlfriend got the curry würst and I got the “halbe meter würst” (something like that), both with good condiments. So sausages all around and they were good.If I feel the need for another Schwebebahn ride in Wuppertal, I might just go back here once more. Good food and good service and until I hear otherwise - probably the better choice in this neighbourhood. I'm split between 3 or 4 stars, but service and the apparent alternatives pulls the fourth star."

Exceptional food, great service! Would come back next time we visit. The halbe Meter Sausage with home made mustard was excellent.

Lovely food in a nice cosy setting. Staff are extremely friendly. The Onion soup is delicious! and all the meals are of good size, quality and price.

Great way to end our first day in Germany. The pork medallions were very tasty as was the late spring spargel! The sausage plate was very well prepared as well. Staff was very good.

Wagner am Mauerchen offers a range of German cuisine in a fairly traditional setting with warm and friendly service. The daily specials seem to offer excellent value and overall we had a most enjoyable experience.

According to my teenagers this is a place for old people. But they loved the food too. Very good, traditional food is served by a friendly staff at reasonable prices. The surroundings of the place are not very attractive, but just take the pleasant Schwebebahn to Ohligsmühle, walk the 300 meters to the restaurant and just sit down in one of the boots and enjoy the food. We enjoyed our dinner at Wagner am Mauerchen. The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy and the place seemed like a local favorite. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and were able to accommodate our inability to speak German. The service was prompt. The food was excellent. Everyone's meal was delicious and the portions were large. Finally, the prices were very reasonable.

Wuppertal was our first stop in Germany, and we came in hungry! After we got off the train and got settled into our hotel room, we started searching for a good German restaurant close to us. It was about 0.5 miles away, and we were determined, so we headed out past many other, closer (non-German) eateries. We were glad we held out once we were seated. It was early evening, and tables were already reserved and/or seated, but we were able to sit at the bar and order our dinner. They do have an English menu, and at least one English speaking server. Since we had friends from abroad, it was just in the middle of the week. Ruck zuck had transferred Hasimausi the car 200 meters from Primavera a Merano: spring parked in Merano. In the early evening, the remaining meters passed by the beautiful Laurentiusplatz, where the papal St. Laurentius Basilica is located. In the times of the election campaign before the Bundestag elections, the party regularly takes up politicians from the 2nd and 4th levels to celebrate. This evening I saw only a half of 15, a maximum of 20 green plaques in the square. And what politician in this way we asked ourselves was today's guest of the Greens? Like Annalenchen Baerbock or the Top Frisur model of the Greens, Dr. Anton Hofreiter? Neither. It was the chairman of the Group of the Greens in the Bundestag, Katrin Göring Eckhardt. Ergo usually takes us to the first floor. Unless the terrace is only small, which is hardly possible on weekends. The table was reserved for 4 people. As always perfectly covered. Pleasant feel-good ambience. A warm welcome. As always done by men between 25 and 40 years of age who actually live and implement the term service. Student service e.g. social sciences will not find a job here. The cards were handed. The question of drinks. We made our choice. The appetizers: For my lady the seafood salad 13,50 Euro For me Scampis and scallops 16,50 Euro The wine lover will surely find something here with the drinks. Loose 10 to 15 open wines are offered and over 100 bottle wines. After all, the Primavera has a vinotheque. The card ends up at a 2008 Opus One Mondavi Phillipine de Rothschild for 290, Euro, which tells me not much as a professional beer consumer. Similarly, the gray burgundy then served for my dear lady. The service looks short if, for example, if bread was still desired etc. and served relatively flott the appetizers. Already the optics on the plate of my appetizer convinced. The scampis were well prepared, the scallops tasted slightly nutty, just as my taste nerves so desire. Leaf spinach. Thank God the fruits of the sea were not spilled and drowned with the lobster. Rather, the lobster Saucenspiegel was distributed alongside the marine animals. Thus, the guest determines how much or how little he consumes from this little bit and not the cook in the kitchen. And Hasimausi ? She expressed her full satisfaction over the Calamaris, Scampis, Crevetten, Pulpo and Shells, which this seafood salad wonderfully cried. Also our friends were more than satisfied with the beef carpaccio and the served antipasti. Fast, flotted and canned has been preserved. It was noticeable whether wine, water or beer was missing. Our friends from Brazil tasted the wine from the middle of Europe recognizably well. The service refilled and had always immediately realized that there was an increasing air in my Pils glass. Only Hasimausi acted as a responsible and qualified passenger car driver under the 0.5 Promille limit! NOCH! While we waited for the main courts and chatted about everything possible, I fell down a one that I wanted to report very briefly about a campaign event that is over 40 years behind. At that time, I was a young hopper. Announced at that time was a campaign event in the venerable Wuppertal stadium at the Zoo. The speaker: FRANZ JOSEF STRAUSS. A look towards Hasimausi on her Irish lamb carree. Great satisfaction. On her plate the same little as was served on my fillet. My lady explicitly praised the sauce was clear! Our friends wanted to eat a local dish. Mutig I had recommended Viennese calf carvings. With some concern, I looked at how the sliced piece of meat made in Austria was consumed. I reaped a lot of praise. Whether it really caused enthusiasm in the palate or whether it was just courtesy Made in Brasil, I don't know. No matter how, the mood was good. The padrone looked past the table. We ordered the wonderful raw milk cheese selection with grapes and figs. So are we in Marsalla.
