"We stayed at The Watership Down Inn for one night as we were visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery for a tour and had booked dinner at the Inn later in the evening to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival we were shown to the room. with...no real instructions indications as to breakfast times (the exact words were maybe 8:30ish, maybe 9:30, we'll let you know We did ask for this later into the night at dinner, and again were told rough timings but warned that these may change. Upon arriving at dinner, we were shown to our table, the bar staff seemed to require further training as they were unaware of what Campari was, or how it should be served (my partner had to point the bottle out on the bar). There was one waiter in particular who did seem knowledgeable, however, and managed to make classic cocktails for the couple beside us clearly a great asset to the team! The meal itself was great, high quality ingredients and we felt reasonably priced (including a bottle of red). Smaller things during service, however, were missed our water glasses were filled once and once only, my plate was removed within mere seconds of my final mouthful, and despite having added that it was our anniversary to the booking, there was no recognition of this (Why ask The room itself was spacious, the bathroom was a great size and very beautiful. The surroundings were again absolutely stunning. We had a terrible nights sleep, however, as the fire escape light (and 3 other bright green spotlights) were on all night leading a path to the door and the double bed was clearly two mattresses combined, meaning the middle of the bed had a gap to fall into throughout the night. Breakfast service was delayed due to a power cut throughout the kitchen (again, cannot be helped and completely understandable given the circumstances) at breakfast we did mention a few of the above issues, and were offered no real compensation, hence this review. Overall we probably wouldn't stay again, as we felt that for £100+ a night we would be given a warmer welcome, and that some of the issues we raised could have been compensated for upon our departure (a drink or a snack on the house for example would have been a lovely gesture)."

Gorgeous room, great food and lovely staff. Stayed here to go on the Gin tour (walking distance of 5 mins), but it was the B&B that was the star of our break because it was so good. Loved it.

Went to celebrate my father's 80th. We were able to sit outside at a table in the garden such a lovely setting. Garden is well looked after, and all the tables were clean. Good selection of food, including vegetarian options. Beautiful presentation, delicious tastes,...steady service. Would definitely recommend and hope to be able to visit again.

We stayed one night on a visit to the Bombay Sapphire distillery, which is a15 minute walk away. Lovely room in the inn itself, well appointed and comfortable. Nice beer, great dinner in the evening , and a very nice breakfast. We were luck with...some sunny weather so could really appreciate the surroundings of the beautiful countryside. A lovely treat.

beautiful pub and great accommodation. this is a picturesque, well-placed country pub, just a few minutes walk from the bombay saphirdistillerie. the accommodation was superior, generous in size and immaculate clean. we were not for dinner (left too late and we are fully booked), but. the helpful staff offered some local recommendations that worked well. the breakfast was delicious, hot and excellent. this is without doubt a top selection of places to stay if they wanted to visit the bombay saphirdistillerie....walk or get a bus there, the water ship downstairs is an ideal place to stay.

Stayed one night in a garden room, which was very clean and had a huge bathroom. Underfloor heating was very welcome first thing! Arrived on Easter saturday at lunchtime and the place was incredibly busy and the young staff were rushed off their feet, however...we were welcomed and shown to our room. Fortunately we were given one of the last 2 tables inside for lunch, while other folk were then being turned away for food because the small kitchen was slammed. There did not appear to be anyone in charge' at front of house and if not for the two competent young girls I am not sure how they would have managed. It seems the owners are not on site. We had an excellent dinner that evening, and wer...

we were very excited to visit this pub, we are sometimes skeptical to try new places, but reviews seemed pretty good and we loved the view of the menu, so we thought we would give it a bit. we were shown on our table. that was in the winter garden, this part of the pub I didn't think was as beautiful as some of the seating areas within the pub/bar area. the winter garden was tired and a bit dirty, as well as the toilets. the service was slow and sometimes we felt forgotten. we shared a large bottle of water that was supplied with two glasses, no ice or lemon. we ordered starter and net, after 30 minutes or so, our net were brought to the table, our starters were completely missed. I did not...

the pub itself is very attractive. the winter garden it area less so. we came to the end of a busy lunch service and it showed. the workers, while very pleasant, clearly missing guidance and the whole visit was very disappointing, instead of the joy we were expecting. extremely limited menu. only fish and a burger available at 2 o'clock on Sunday. it was pointed out that the booking of a later table made it inevitable that the Sunday roast option would be sold out. we complained bitterly because there were no suitable alternatives and the waitress saved the day by referring to the kitchen to see if anything else could be offered that contains meat and vegetables. the food and the wine were v...

Lovely hotel and pub , very warm welcome and service from Dave &Johnny who went the extra mile to ensure our stay was a good one. We stayed on a Friday and after checking in had a couple of drinks and then walked down to...the Bombay Sapphire Gin tour , about 20 minutes away. We then returned and chilled out in garden room number 6 which was spacious comfortable and immaculate. I especially liked the under floor heating in the bathroom which is huge and also has sensors to light the floor if you get up in the night. The bed was huge and comfortable the room well appointed with tea and coffee and cookies. We then had dinner in the pub which was delicious, the Korean buns to start and then boa...
