"After a tiring morning and ferry ride into Stornoway, my companions and I decided to stop by a local bookshop for a quick browse. We then chose to have a relaxing coffee and cake break in town before exploring further. Initially seated downstairs, we later discovered a more comfortable seating area on the top floor and decided to move without realizing we needed permission. The owner seemed irritated and informed us of the need for cleaning before use, so we waited patiently. However, when we planned to stay longer and possibly order more, we were told we had to order something immediately to continue using the upstairs area. Feeling unwelcome, we decided to leave. While the place itself was nice, the staff's behavior took away from the overall experience. Unfortunately, our first impression of Lewis was not a positive one."

My wife and I popped in for a late afternoon cake and coffee after arriving on the ferry. Lovely place with everything significantly better than you would expect.

Popped in here for lunch. It was busy but we were seated at a table for four even though there were just two of us. We both had sandwiches (mine was BLT) which were excellent.

Great family stop for lunch. We had to split the family due to table availability however the staff were great making our daughters feel great at their own table. Great sandwiches and soup with good cakes to finish up.

Great food and even better coffee. Caters for gluten free requirements with sandwiches and cakes. Really friendly service and completely on the ball with current restrictions without making it a “thing”. This would be my regular if I stayed here, delighted I paid a visit

This cafe is absolutely lovely and offers a fantastic variety of cakes! We enjoyed a roll and croissant for lunch, then indulged in a slice of cake and a sneaky G T. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we appreciated being able to provide our contact tracing details online at our table (I'm quite particular about my data privacy). The upstairs lounge is very peaceful and made for the best dining experience we've had in Stornoway so far!

I was excited to try this restaurant after hearing great reviews, but we were completely ignored when we arrived. I usually don't like to leave negative feedback, but I feel strongly about this experience. Despite no acknowledgment from the two staff members, they served customers who arrived after us. While I understand times are tough due to Covid-19, there is no excuse for rudeness. It was not the warm Scottish welcome we were anticipating.

Visited Artizan during a stay on Lewis last week. Coffees and cakes were very nice, but no contact details were taken for Track and Trace during current Covid pandemic, very strange as every other restaurant or cafe visited took details, which I understood were now mandatory in Scotland. Also, staff not wearing masks and customers ordered at the counter rather than table service, so a queue of people formed, surrounded by occupied tables which did not appear to be adhering to current social distancing rules. I’m surprised the cafe is operating with such lax practices at the moment.
