Axis Bar & Restaurant

I visited this restaurant for lunch and we were the only customers there. The waiter was quick and friendly. The food was decent, although the chicken salad had an abundance of tomatoes and not much chicken. Overall, it was an okay experience.

During our hotel stay, we enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant. The breakfast options were typical self-service fare, but on Saturday they had delicious smoked salmon and more fruit choices available. However, the eggs were disappointing, either pre-cooked fried discs or very soggy milky scrambled eggs. Made-to-order eggs would have been a better choice for a Hilton restaurant.

We enjoyed a couple of meals here when we stayed at the hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive but the restaurant didn't have many people dining there when we visited. The atmosphere is okay and service was adequate. We enjoyed the lamb shank, chicken curry and burgers and were satisfied with our choices. It's a hotel dining room and this Hilton is nearer the Travelodge end of the quality spectrum (i.e. cheap-and-cheerful) but if you can set that aside you can have a very pleasant meal. The atmosphere is quiet and unhurried and the service was attentive throughout the evening. The food was well cooked, tasty and nicely presented though not memorable. We chose it for the Taste card discount which made it good value.

Came here a little while ago with my boyfriend for his birthday and loved every second of it. Although they didn't have the dessert I wanted which I saw on a sample menu before I came (I'm a dessert person) they had other great alternatives. We were going to the theatre after so they had timed it so that we could get their on time, so we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal without feeling in a rush. Great service and food.

As a previous reviewer has said, you can use a Gourmet Society Card in this restaurant, at least you can according to the GS website. I visited with an old friend at lunchtime yesterday looking for somewhere quiet for a good catch up. The time was 12:15 and the restaurant was deserted. I enquired about using the GS card but got no positive response. After five minutes of messing about the manager arrived and told me NO. I even showed him the the GS website page but to no avail. Recently, we hosted a private family event at Axis restaurant and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Maria, the events manager, was extremely helpful in planning the event, despite not meeting in person. She quickly resolved any issues and assisted with catering and seating plans, offering flexibility to help stay within budget. The restaurant manager, Adam, went above and beyond to cater to our needs and used his expertise to make the event a success. The staff, including chef Barry, Cosmin, Alex, and Ilayda, worked hard behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. I highly recommend this venue for any event.

visited here last Saturday night. I have a gourmet society card which you can use here and get 50% off food. The restaurant is pleasant, in with the bar so contemporary surroundings. It was almost empty so not much atmosphere but the waiting staff were pleasant. The food was actually very good with decent sized portions. However the let down was the drinks availability. We asked for three different wines on the list none of which were in stock. We settled on a bottle of piniot grigio rose which was fine but when we wanted a second bottle this was also out of stock so we had to order a more expensive bottle of rose which we did not like as much as the first one. This is a rather unassuming Hilton Hotel with an even more unassuming Axis Bar and Restaurant. When we got here it just looked like a very small lobby area with food! It did not stand out as a Hilton. However, I cannot complain about the service or the food. Both were exceptional. The food was freshly prepared and very flavoursome. The best thing was that the portions are just the right size. Not too big! The bread that came out was lovely and warm, the salads fresh. My pasta dish tasted like fresh pasta.
