"What an amazing place! We just stayed for a child-free little weekend getaway in the Kingfisher room and loved it! The service was great, everyone goes the extra mile to help. The food was amazing, we had dinner last night and breakfast this morning. The room was so cozy and had such a beautiful view. We ended up going for a walk, and they were so helpful in suggesting where to go. Definitely looking forward to another visit. Rooms: 5"

"We had an excellent meal at the Stonemill, although with a few features that may be worthy of comment. We were welcomed and shown to our table, and after about half an hour a complimentary portion of breaded whitebait and tartare sauce arrived off limits, sadly, to my wife, who is coeliac, but gratefully scoffed by me lovely big juicy fish and good sauce. After another 10 minutes, and having seen people who had arrived after us placing their orders (always annoying, that , we got a bit impatient and went in search of some staff. Our order was taken, and after another 15 minutes more complimentary things arrived broad bean and caramelised onion purée, which married the beany bitterness and sweet oniony caramel very nicely. In another 10 minutes some likewise unexpected bread, oil and vinegar arrived we explained (again that my wife needed something gluten free, so some suitable rolls were duly found and provided. These proved still to be frozen inside, although given the timescales we were working to, they had plenty of time to defrost. Then the actual food started arriving, all of which was superb (although, on a small point of Italian grammar, Arancini is plural if you 're only getting one, it 's an Arancino . Mains were lamb (Madame and sole (me , and a special word about the green veg, which is not always British restaurants ' strong point, but here was succulent and just al dente. Our house Romanian red was earthy and piquant, and slipped down very nicely. Stuffed to the gills as we were with multiple starters, we skipped the puds and just got the bill which, when it arrived, was £49. I did think (who wouldn 't? of paying up and running, but, being honest folk, we felt bound to point out that, haphazard service notwithstanding, it should probably be at least twice that amount. Unfortunately (for the restaurant, not us tips could not be added to the amount on the card machine, but could only be left as cash, so sadly in these cashless, contactless times they had to go without. So an all round 5 stars for food, a solid 3 for service, given that they made amends for their slowness with lots of extra goodies."

"brexit meant the usual fight for the personal. the staff was always very friendly and helpful. our room was very kosy, but good for a few days. Eating was very impressive and beverage selection was impressive. lots of space and lots of parking are available. a short walk to the impressive goodrich burg. for us they let themselves be of the fact that the hostelrie is dog friendly. if they are a dog, then ideal for them. we are not and do not like to eat and drink with dogs."

"Beautiful building with a gorgeous interior but unfortunately that's about as good as it got. The lady who greeted us (looked down her nose more like) was very unwelcoming and barely cracked a smile. I found her to be very rude. We booked our meal for 13.15 and we got through 2 courses by 14.20 and when we asked about the sweet menu the ladies response was*I'll have to check the time ... I'm sorry but that's not how you run a hospitality business. The lady had the charm of Basil Fawlty. The food was ok at best with a very high price for what we had. It's such a shame because the building is gorgeous. In my honest opinion. 10/10 for the venue 6/10 for the food 1/10 for the service."

"We got married here in 2014, yesterday we had our little girls Christening and one year birthday party here, it was only right to celebrate such a joyous occasion were we got married. It was an amazing day (weekend) as we had many of our guests staying all weekend, the staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us, jono made our little girls day so special as always thank u so much for everything and we will be back our next celebration in the family."
