Popped in here twice in the last week. Once just for a drink, once to eat. On both occasions the staff were really friendly and helpful. The real ale was excellent and the food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The whitebait was particularly good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Popped in at the end of a walk over the common, and they said they had a limited menu. But actually it was a great menu with lots of choices. Had whitebait, and my partner some soup, and it was very nice. Made to feel most welcome, and even water and biscuits for the dog. Recommended.

If you're looking for passable food, daft laughs, and an affable bar maid then look no further than the cannon. As an avid Gooner, I first visited due to the name (and also as it's down the road from my mates mam and dad's), and I have to say I was welcomed with open arms (not literally). The guest ales are superb, and the bi-weekly quizzes are nothing short of groin wreckers every time. Honestly, if you're in the area I urge you to stop by. Although do check opening times first as they caaaan tend to be closed more than I would like, hey, can't have everything. Keep it up! Ta
