"Other reviews suggest that we may have actually avoided a bad experience, as it seems that anyone from out of town is treated poorly anyway. Additionally, the temperature was not below freezing, but even if it had been, my child would have been properly dressed and cared for. Despite their defense of their pub and its rules, they should not attack my parenting abilities. My husband's name is Glenn, not Loveridge, and I would appreciate it if they did not try to use personal information against me. Overall, I would rate this pub zero stars and suggest others avoid it as well."

Very tight fit in the bar area if any small numbers of people are present. We stopped in for a fast pint.

It was raining and we had an hour to kill before our reservation at a nearby restaurant so we popped in for a drink and a snack. But no crisps! A pub with no crisps!

We visited Sidmouth on a sunny day in March, and wanted a dog friendly place. We were very happy with the friendly welcome, nice food and dog friendly bar. Recommended. View menu

Came here a few weeks ago after a recommendation, after experiencing awful service and rancid food the recommenders were extremely embarrassed. The food was what I would call weathspoons standard. Unfortunately would not be recommending certainly won’t be returning!

Lovely little pub, nice beer garden and selection of beers, ales and ciders, food looks amazing although I didn't eat this time, did try one of their 80p pickled eggs which are the best I've ever had, if you want a propper old pub with a chilled atmosphere this is the place, and dog friendly, (did see a ghost)

This charming pub is nestled in the quiet streets of Sidmouth. While it may not be on the main road, locals always know the best spots. As a resident myself, I can confirm that the food is excellent, the outdoor area is fantastic, it's dog friendly, and there is a superb selection of wines and beers available. View menu

Absolutely delicious meal. Roasted mushroom and Ale pie and Handmade Chicken fillet burger. The salad was delicious with a whole variety of salad ingredients. Coleslaw was wonderful. Crunchy chips, and all piping hot. Service was wonderful and so friendly. Lovely old fashioned traditional pub. Can't recommend highly enough

Discovered this pub on our last visit to Sidmouth when searching for a cheeky beer. Came back again and enjoyed a lovely lunch beer. Great pub, beer was spot on food was fab. Bar staff could not be more friendly, made us and our dog feel super welcome. Love that as you walk in you're greeted by dogs chilling whilst their owners have a drink, sets the vibe for the pub. If authentic pubs with home cooked food great beer selection are your thing you will not be disappointed here!

"We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also...because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…"
