"I didn't have the chance to try the food in Ristorante Coccodrillo, because the waiter was so inpolite that didn't even gave us a proper answer why he couldn't serve us. We were 6 people and decided to eat there since there was a blackboard saying that there was a Nachmittag Menu from 14.30 17.30. When we went there at 15.00 the waiter told us that they are closed for an hour. However there were people eating. I went back and I asked what time they will be open and he answered me again in a very inpolite way. I must have bothered him. I insisted and he answered me visibly annoyed that they will open at 16.30. Really bad service."

I needed a nice restaurant for an impromptu birthday dinner. Even at the late booking they could make my day special. Great service all around. I can only recommend it.

Burned, tasteless food. Slow service. They included items on the bill that we did not order and had to have them remove. Either it was a bad night or this place has dramatically gone down hill since the good earlier reviews.

The caprese salad was fabulous so many beautiful flavors! Margherita pizza was delicious nothing crazy, just a standard Margherita. Their chili oil was really good though! The staff was very attentive and kind. Would recommend for sure!

Our green salad starter was terrific but the rest of our meal was not. My chicken cordon bleu was … okay. My wife’s pasta with a bolognese sauce was … okay. Dessert was okay. With some house wine the meal ran to $100. It was not a $100 meal even for pricey Switzerland.

After walking around the old town all day I had a refreshment stop at this restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. I tried one of their tap beers and a glass of Pinot Grigio whilst my wife was taking photos of the lovely old town area. I was served a complimentary bowl of mixed olives.

We ordered some drink and some snacks for an appetizer and it was fine but when we wanted to pay with card the waiter typed in a higher amount on purpose than we were willing to pay and didn’t say anything. We also weren‘t offered any olives with our drinks even though everybody else got some.

Just off the main area of the Market square, this is truly a hidden gem. A quaint and quiet place with great ambiance. A diverse menu, but every dish our group selected was phenomenal. To top all of this off was is a wonderful staff that made our dining experience one of the best on our entire European experience. Inside and outside dining, full bar, and great vegan/vegetarian options.

I've come here several times over the past few years. I try something new every time, some items come and go as they are seasonal, but I've yet to encounter something that didn't taste good. Service has always been wonderful, the staff is very polite and accommodating. The price is more than fair. The restaurant is family friends with a kids menu. The restaurant is also vegetarian friendly, at least 1 item from each category is vegetarian. You can even ask to substitute the meat in a burger if you'd like something other than the vegi burger.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
