"Saturday evening reunionAlways been a big fan of the pub, unfortunately they have never been able to establish a core of business and cant cope with more than 6 people at the same time! Table was booked for 7:30, 45 mins after the order we were told that some items werent available and then after an hour the meals started to come out. There were 9 in the party but the first ones were virtually finished by the time the last meals were served (about 15/20 mins later). Unfortunately the last two which were lamb shank were both cold could have come straight out of the fridge. They were sent back and the staff were understanding and offered a round of drinks as an apology. Apart from the cold lamb, items were missing garlic bread, jam. Food was well presented though. So disappointing for a pub with so much potential"

This restaurant is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a meal by the canal. The atmosphere is laid-back and not hurried. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious.

Lovely setting, popped in one Monday evening, sat on the refurbished decking over looking the canal. Decided to try the menu and had a very nice meal. Reasonable prices, nice inside. Would recommend View menu

We were looking for somewhere to new to eat and decided to try this place for lunch. My wife had the steak and I tried the small plate menu. Three plates for 12 quid. Squid, belly pork and Falafel were my three choices. It was all delicious and well presented. The steak was succulent and tasty. Friendly staff made it a worth while visit. The toilets were clean and tidy. Overall a good place to eat. We will be returning soon to try other fayre off the menu. Keep up this standard please. View menu

We live about 3 to 4 miles from the pub but are lucky enough to be able to walk to it via the local trails and canal towpaths. Lovely pub in a nice location next the canal. Definitely not the cheapest place to eat and drink but it isn't expensive either compared to some other places. Staff were very efficient and friendly and the food was very nice (I had the Fingerpost burger and my wife had the chicken burger which we both enjoyed). It's dog friendly too which we like as we can walk there with our dog.

We have been here a few times and always left before eating. We only live 2Mins walk away. Always felt cold in both temperature and atmosphere when we have been before. We were greeted warmly and the choice of ales was good : we stayed and ate and tried two of the starters of squid and slow cooked belly pork : they were great : for mains we went standard with steak and fish. Both were nice. We will be back and I will have the squid again, perfectly cooked : landlord and landlady were very welcoming and we will be back :

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
