"This once great “pub” has become more and more elitist and up itself. I remember the much heralded opening in 2016 as well as giving it a 5-star review and considering it one of the town’s gems. But now, with the place owned independently, it’s trying to position itself as a gastro pub but has entirely lost the pub vibe. Turning-up at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon we’re asked if we’ve booked. Replying that we haven’t, we are told that it’s table service only and they can only squeeze us in to a table outside. So we sit, and we wait. And wait. After 15 minutes with nobody coming out and being told by the trendy young person at the bar that it’s always been table service and it’s every day, we get up and leave. How this place can claim to be first and foremost a pub is misrepresentation. If you want a real pub, there are plenty in HH and the recently opened “Tap” on South Road gives a better choice of beers that rotate more frequently. If you want a decent restaurant, there are better options than the Lockhart, which for the most part hasn’t changed its menu since it opened."

My husband and I love our time at the Lockhart. It’s a great place for a social with friends. Their food is great and so are their staff.

Loved everything about this place staff, interior and food. We had a beautiful roast and every component was lovely. Would definitely recommend to others.

Honestly one of the best roasts I've had this year. The nutroast and mash were especially tasty, and roast potatoes and Yorkie perfectly cooked. The desserts were also amazing and great selection of AF beers. Great service. Highly recommend View menu

It is so lovely to walk into an establishment where the staff have personality, wanting to interact and create rapport with the customers and not just serving you food and drinks like zombies. Food was really delicious and the frozen cocktails were yummy!

Have been to the Lockhart on many occasions and it never disappoints. Always a great selection of local ales, the food is also great, my personal favorite being the Korean chicken burger which I highly recommend. Staff are good, shout-out to Taela in particular who is always very pleasant. Will no doubt return again soon!

Went here last night for the first time and I can say we were not disappointed! The two guys at front of house were really friendly and welcoming. We had some questions regarding our food and wine choices and the guy serving us was very accommodating. The food was fantastic (Korean fried chicken wings were amazing). We cannot wait to come back! We love the Lockhart- such great beer and the best Korean chicken wings ever.. but for the second visit.. no chicken wings. How difficult is it to plan chicken wings!!! The salad was limp and dripping in dressing.. they said it had just been made.. I’m sorry it’s not possible for lettuce to do that within minutes of dressing. Appreciate they took this off the bill but wish they had understood the problem rather than tell me I was wrong.

Without a doubt my first choice in Haywards Heath, whether that’s for a meal with family, or a night with friends for drinks, there’s no other place quite like the Lockhart. The staff are professional and friendly and are so welcoming with plenty of food and drink recommendations on arrival. You’ll never find a drink quite like their Frozè! Not to mention the Korean fried chicken burger, absolutely sensational. Can’t recommend it enough, I’ve never had a bad experience here! I wouldn’t think to go anywhere else in Haywards Heath, or even Burgess Hill… easily my favourite restaurant, whatever the occasion! :

"We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
