This is a charming place with a very traditional (hand written! menu. Food was very good, especially the fish which was excellently cooked. Lots of art on the walls that proved to be a great conversation piece. It was delightfully eccentric with oodles of character. View menu

A step back in time in a good way. Wonderful service, classic dishes the ambiance of someone's home. Superb wine list. An art gallery upstairs paitings for sale in the dining room. A lovely snug with a fire for pre dinner drinks a coffee an armagnac afterwards. Loved it!

Have had a delicious meal today, and you are asked if you want seconds of the main meal! Pudding was delicious to. Absolutely yummy, thank you. we had recently a high-time dinner for about 20 people, and the food and service was incredible. all in the old fire engine house were very welcoming and ensured that we were all supervised during the meal. the eating was exceptional and everyone was impressed by the local seasonal oriented (and the offers of seconds! . what a jewellery! considering that it is done by a very small team of superwomen with only two chefs, it is noticeable how extensive and interesting the menu is. Eating is delicious, with a homemade feeling. it is more of a talented mum boil type of a place than a hipster deconstructed dish restaurant. very extensive wine list also. stunning garden. a must visit when they book in ely better before, although we had luck catching the last table as a walk.

We were recommended this restaurant and it has taken us some time to finally get here. The building is historic and well maintained, bare floor boards add to the character but do little to dampen the background noise from a full restaurant. The food is traditionally English, in season and well cooked and presented. You have a choice between a 2/3 fixed price menu (3 choices for each course) and an A la Carte I had tomato and onion soup, a great dish, along with Sea Bass, with prawns, hasselback potatoes, whilst my partner had haddock with a dill and cream sauce, followed by rice pudding with maple apples (brilliant). So why 4 rather than 5 stars, the service, was friendly but the one server...

a great place in ely. I felt instantly from friendly staff who sit in a beautiful table in the corner, I was so perfect on my own to get fucked away, but I had a good look at everything that went on to keep me occupied. the place is not what I would call instagrammble. they will not find young fashionable people here and it is better for it. it is beautifully decorated, crisp and fresh and feels inviting, more like visiting a friendly house than a stuffy restaurant. the visitors are here to enjoy their evenings with good food and friends, not to make pictures for likes.
