"We were warmly greeted when we mentioned we had made a reservation online. The service was extremely efficient and quick, perfect for our tight schedule before heading to a show. We were impressed by how fast we received the bill, a practice that other restaurants could learn from. The prices for the food were reasonable, but the steak and ale pie could use some improvement. While the homemade version was tasty, we recommend taking inspiration from Greenhalgh's bakers in Japan for a better recipe. On the plus side, the mashed potatoes, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding were all excellent, making it a satisfying meal overall."

It's British Pie Week! After National Toast Day, it is the second biggest food event in the calendar.

Great pies!!! We really enjoyed to watch a football match while having a delicious pie and a pint. Totally recommend the visit!

The Guinness at this restaurant is delicious, and I was serenaded with a rendition of Natasha Bedingfield by the only female staff member. It was absolutely wonderful. View menu

This restaurant is great. I have been twice when they were showing football games. They have a TV screen at the end of each table and a wide selection of beers to choose from.

I discovered this incredible gem hidden away in the Northern Quarter. I ordered the classic steak and ale pie, and it was absolutely delicious. The rich gravy was incredible, and the variety of craft beers and ales available to pair with your pie was a delightful touch!

Visited on Sunday evening before catching a flight from Manchester airport. Bad experience overall, food was awful and looked nothing like it was described. Nachos came without both sour cream guacamole, and was smothered in a disgusting liquid cheese, nothing like the pictures on website!! Sunday roast pie was served without Yorkshire pudding and seasonal veg plus the pie casing was black, burnt beyond recognition…..beware reviews on their site, they only publish the good ones View menu

We wanted something to eat not far from the AO arena and as pie lovers thought this fitted the bill. I booked online so we had a table but there were plenty available had we just walked in. The staff were friendly and the steak ale pie we had didn't disappoint. They have happy hour on select drinks 4-7 Mon to Fri and we were told show all the main sporting events which is a crowd pleaser. It was quiet when we visited, probably due to it's location, tucked away in a quiet back street, if you are in the vicinity it's worth a visit

Ate there on a Saturday night, 5 friends. Tables and benches sticky and serious problem with fruit flies in December as well ! The pies were good though our order was messed up and one of my friends did t receive his order until we asked for it. Barman brought his order and literally threw it at him , no apology or anything , even though he had made zero fuss and politely chased up his order . The food was good but place needs a really deep clean and retraining for at least one of the bar staff ! Beardy long hair man, you know who you are !!

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
