"We stopped at this restaurant for lunch to take with us on our climb up Helvellyn mountain. There were plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten allergies. We chose the sweet potato and spinach pie, smoked tofu and salad sandwiches, and Anzac cookies (all vegan). These meals were exactly what we needed when we reached the summit of the mountain - they were delicious! The pie was incredibly moist and tasty. We liked the food so much that we returned the next day to buy more of the same, along with some vegan shortbreads for our journey home. This place is a combination of a shop and a cafe, so there are plenty of food and drink items available for purchase."

We enjoyed our take away lunch, freshly made and full of flavours, very reasonable price for our drinks and sandwiches.

All the five star reviews are spot on. Fantastic food and great value. Can’t recommend it enough, especially the chocolate brownie.

We were looking for a healthy takeaway lunch and thank goodness we tried Rattle Ghyll Deli. Absolutely delicious food. We had a salad bowl crammed with so many tasty ingredients and also a stunning falafel wrap. The food is fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are lovely.

I stopped by to take a look around and ended up purchasing some pastries and a bowl of mixed salads to go for a picnic lunch. The brie and onion quiche was delicious. The salad box was quite large, with each salad being unique and bursting with fresh flavors. There was even enough leftover for dinner. I will definitely stop by again next time I am in Ambleside.

We went to a coffee nearby for lunch, but the menu options were bad, so we decided to try luck elsewhere. We saw Rattle Ghyll and thought it was worth seeing what they had to offer. The staff member was charming, the options were delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. We both enjoy our food a lot. It is safe to say that from now on it will be my place of food in Ambleside.

So many options to choose from! A family of four vegetarians were lucky to come across this hidden gem! They were delighted by the wide array of freshly made savory dishes, including scotch eggs, sweet potato and goat cheese. The VLT sandwich was tasty, as were the vegetable frittata and fresh salad. The selection of salads was amazing! Highly recommended for a delicious meal!

Now Rattle Ghyll Deli and serving a much wider range of takeaway food. All homemade and delicious. Alec and Clare have stepped up their game and now offer a huge range of vegetarian foods as well as alcohol. Great to see them expanding their business. Well worth a visit and great food for a Lake District walk. We love the Bhudda Bowls and took them on a boat on the lake. We also love their front runner muesli and Belazu products.

Visited in 2019 and had fabulous gluten free tiffin. Visited again June 2021 and none on display, but we asked and they made it specially for collection the following day fabulous customer service and the tiffin was still wonderful! Also had take away brie and roasted onion tarts with roasted vegetables as take away for our picnic all of which were to die for! topped off with a slice of really yummy lemon drizzle cake.Lovely cheerful service. We will be back!

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
