"It's been over 10 years since my last visit but one recent Saturday afternoon, after failing to get into the Effra Social due to a private party and wandering around Brixton Village' in dismay at the masses of people queuing, we rather reluctantly headed to the Satay Bar. First things first wow this place is still here! As long as I can remember this restaurant has always been around, which is comforting but like Madame Tussaud's not necessarily somewhere you'd want to visit. I have to admit I'm rather glad I did The restaurant itself is dark and moody but spacious and upon entering we were quickly seated. Despite the time there was a healthy number of people and the atmosphere...read more"

It took 2 hours to get our starts, and not all off us got our starts together. Then one off my friends had to bring her main home as it wasn't on the order.

Having placed our salmon dish order the waiter then came back saying they have no salmon...on a big big Friday! I could of popped over the market and bought some myself, this threw me right off.

The lady manager that came in while we was still there was very rude, also she was drinking cocktails on the job and her attitude really stinks, the staff would forget that you’ve ordered a drink from the bar or something

It was my belated birthday meal. We were told to arrive 15 minutes before our booked table. We waited awhile before we were acknowledged. It seemed they were very short staffed. We did wait awhile for our drinks and starters. The staff was friendly even when they were under pressure, but overall we enjoyed our meal. Katherine.

First of all they pushed my birthday booking from 8pm to 10.30 and refused to be accountable for the mistake made with my booking. There were two young guys waiting that night that spent most of their time chatting up women instead of bring people their food/drinks in a timely manner, I could go on. Terrible, terrible experience.

When we arrived had so much space but by time our food came it was like we was dining with the people next to us. Quite close. The menu has changed so happy hour drinks we used to have are no longer included and the selection of happy hour drinks was limited but was still nice and the later happy hour service was a bonus! Nice time had by all food came quickly.

this place is packed after 17 clock, but has a great atmosphere. a lively mood and filled with youthful. the outside seats are also good for a drink! I must say, however, that it is difficult to get service as waiters run around. eating was fantastic I had chicken catsu with wok fried noodles and my mate had herr wangs crispy bark stripes with sweet potato friars. I can't expect to eat again, every penny worth it!

When I got to this restaurant I was surprised as I've lived in Malaysia for the past 5 years and could only see 3 Malaysian dishes on the menu, char kuay teow, laksa and mee goreng! Apart from the prices being 7 times higher than there are in Malaysia, which isn't surprising considering it is in London, they also serve alcohol, which only Chinese restaurants in Malaysia do unless they are touristy places! Pretty good food though!

great experience in this restaurant. the atmosphere was very busy, but also very quiet. although there were some employees, the service was very slow. the starter of the vegetarian spring rolls was cold in the middle and then we waited for over 45 minutes on noodles and an salate while others were served around us. the oriental salate was in peanut store sauce with a few tofu pieces and bohnenprouts penetrated, but the kway teow was good. not enough to run for the terrible service and bad starter. will not come back. very disappointed.
