"Reposting this review as I believe both restaurants were involved/at fault. Also left on river grill downstairs. Never have I had such a rude and unprofessional interaction with a waiter. After a long 12 tour in the Highlands we were looking for a quick bite to eat before going home for the night. We walked around the city and were turned away by a couple places because they had no room unless you had a reservation. We walked into River Grill as it looked like a simple restaurant and grill as their sign said with a basic non-fancy menu. The host took us out of the building and upstairs to a more fancy dining area but said don 't worry it 's the same restaurant/food. After a long day all we wanted was soup and salad, not a heavy meal. We tried to order that and the waiter said you 're only eating side dishes? That 's not good enough for us . Apparently you have to spend at least 15 pounds. The way he said it was probably the worst part. He was very loud and kind of made a scene. Unsure how to react to this we said we can order something different. I ordered a glass of wine so mine was 15 pounds. My friend had to order another dish. Spoiler alert, the soup wasn 't even good. The food and service was 1000x better the previous night at 27 across from the castle. After leaving the restaurant it looks like we were actually in the Indian restaurant upstairs. Maybe they are owned by the same person?? Not sure, either way this situation is unacceptable."

Why you should go to this place If you are Indian foods so a little less appetite or low quality food are still appealing Looks are from tables to windows Why avoid Very average food High prices for what they serve staff is not good. Better Indian restaurants are around, but as expected they were full, so we had to go here.

I really wanted to have Indian food in the UK. After all, one night was free and decided to try this place. It wasn't busy just eating a few other people. My friend was pretty new trying Indian food, so I thought butter chicken was a safe choice. It was okay, but not similar to what I had in the past. Naan was good. The staff was good. I just didn't feel like the court was as tasty as I had in the past.

This place deserves better reviews! The restaurant was very quiet when we dined here in June and although that made us nervous, we were so pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by the aromas of fresh, tasty and different taste profiles of the different curries, Biryani and Naan that we ordered. They did not have any wine or beer available on the menu, but we still enjoyed what was on offer. We also met the long-term owner and wanted to make sure we had a good evening. Great location, delicious food and good prices that you could ask more?

Went here on my own on Saturday night about 9.00 for a chilled meal after loosing my dad. Very expensive cup of tea nearly £4.00 and not in a pot, rest of food was poor and badly presented and I just felt like they wanted to pack up and asked me several times if I had finished, when obviously, due to position of myknife and folk, I hadn’t. Unfriendly staff and what a shame as it is really quite a lovely restaurant with traditional atmosphere and lovely views. They are probably catering for end of night customers after pub which obviously was not happening! Very disappointing and expensive!

This place was one of the oddest dining experiences! The first oddity was when the manager/owner (don't know what this person was) was rude when serving a dish on the table and my wife, while trying to help, came in his way! This guy got massively irritated and almost derided my wife! The next was when we wanted some more bread (rotis) and were told that they don't have the capacity to make any more of it they had not run out of material, they just didn't want to spend the effort! Beyond this, the food was average, decor a bit tired, and service a bit difficult. My guess is that the staff is quite short handed and over worked and that reflects in their service

Why you shouldn’t visit this restaurant: 1. Very unwelcoming service Except for one local waitress, everyone wanted us to leave at the beginning even though the restaurant was empty. Minimum spend of 15 pounds per person for this quality of service and food is way too high. 2. Extremely bland and tasteless food breads were sweet. Tadka Daal was bland (no option to order black daal). Paneer had more tomatoes than any flavour. Biryani was just boiled rice. 3. Spider nets at the entrance I mean how can you have such large spider nets?! 4. Bad owner with absolutely no will to run the restaurant I guess the owner or owner like manager has lost the will to run or serve. 5. Bangladeshi restaurant n...
