"Visited at when pub wasn't busy. The starter I had was garlic mushrooms which were disappointing. The batter surrounding the mushrooms was hard and difficult to cut with knife and inside was some liquid and mushy mushroom not my expectation! Not sure if they...had been cooked from frozen?? On the other hand my chicken curry based dish was great and my partners minced steak and onion with onion gravy and chips was lovely and appertising. Many types of pie are on offer with choice of gravy and choices of mash or chips. Would recommend both dishes. Publican came over to chat to us which was a nice gesture. Pub got very busy for a Thursday so would recommend booking. Will visit again when in area. Note.. Dog friendly (on a lead) difinitely a plus for us next time. Staff were generally friendly."

Mine host is rude and the food is not good at all. How he keeps his job is beyond me. So sad the way he is running to pub that used to be the 'heart of the village '.

booked in advance, as desired, we shared a beautiful meal. beautifully prepared and presented with Christmas crackers. accompanied by one of the most beautiful real ales in the opposite, called inconspicuous anchor ale. not the first time we have eaten here and we never leave. we will be back in a few weeks for another meal. many thanks to the chef and the staff who make a visit in this pub very pleasant

I purchased a Groupon offer for 4 people to have lunch. We waited for a short while until a young lady appeared. She apologised for not being at the bar when we first got there. She was very welcoming and friendly . Our orders were...given to the landlord who had a lovely dry humour, appreciated by all of us. Food was well cooked, hot and tasty. This will NOT be our first and last visit. Thank you for a good experience.

If you find this vast, flat almost treeless landscape of ploughed black fields and scattered villages starts to unsettle you, if it makes you wonder what life would be like lived out here. If you start to speculate that tales of fenland weirdness may be...true… then just turn up min before opening at the Anchor in Wimblington for the landlords one man impression of the pub scene in ‘American Werewolf in London”. Is hospitality minus the hospitality, fenland weirdness, who knows?

we have tented around the corner and dived on Friday and Saturday night. the young lady behind the bar was dead friendly and the pub has a large local pub cleaning. the pub is beautiful and clean, spacious and with a good selection of drinks and well-priced food. I will not go into all this, but in two nights the renter has my assurance with his total lack of human ability, tact and man. I hope that the natives find his setting charming and endearing, but next time we are in the area, I hope to find another pub to give my money.

Had arranged to meet family here ahead of my Uncles funeral, well upset as we all were on the day it was compounded by the out right rudeness of the landlord, we had arrived early mins before opening time, and he was reluctant to...even let us sit and wait inside , and then when we asked if we could get a soft drink or coffee he just kept saying we are not open until we felt very unwelcome and decided to leave, and then to cap it all he challenged us about where we were going to leave our cars !!! , I would stick to your breakfast club and OAP bingo as you have no hospitality skills at all and your rudeness was a disgrace.

I called in a midday. we were the only customers. ordered drinks and the only words spoken by the barman, they wanted a glass. not very welcome. the ordered food and it came quite fast. Unfortunately, I don't think that the boil...the deep frit on temperature before the chips in. it was as if they had softly shimmered in the oil, as they were just a soggy fat chaos. the sampi was the same. then there were a few and just ate the ones. the chef came out to see a supplier and asked if it was okay as I had left it at that time. his reaction when I explained that it was soggy and greasy to say “there is always one”. he cried to the barman to take it from the bill. very abrupt and no excuse.
