"Just had Sunday lunch here for the fourth time (in two years) We had the same menu items as on previous visits, too. It's nice (to us anyway) to find the menu's the same, and that the quality's just the same, with the same guy producing the food. Consistency's a nice quality in itself. Our grandson had turkey, we had a vegetarian Brie tart. The accompanying vegetables arrived well cooked without being overcooked, and not overly seasoned/salted. My grandson asked for apple sauce with his turkey, and it was provided without fuss or raised eyebrows... What more can you ask for from waiting staff? Highly recommended. Drive carefully in the car park... A mallard drake and his two lady friends were relaxing in the sunshine, look out for them... Part of the character of the place..."

I visited this restaurant for a steak dinner after hearing great reviews. I was not disappointed and have returned multiple times since.

This is a quaint pub, with a **** good roast. Staff were friendly, efficient and very accommodating of our (slightly feral) little girls. Fair pricing. Would defo recommend.

We are regulars here and bring friends to eat with us too. This was yet another fabulous meal for all four of us the Sunday lunches are the best around. The price is fair, the staff are great and the food is fantastic.

We stopped in for lunch at this lovely family run pub set in the village of Hallaton with lovely sunny gardens. The food here is always amazing and can't recommend highly enough. I felt bad that I couldn't quite finish my food due to being so full. Yum yum thanks Maz and his team

Lovely country pub. Great surroundings. The staff are friendly and attentive. I had the liver and bacon and my wife had the lasagna. An earlier reviewer complained about the portion size of the lasagne. Really!!! More than enough and delicious. The liver and bacon was beautiful. Great selection of ales. Will I return , of course I will Highly recommend this establishment

We went for Sunday lunch with a group of four adults. The restaurant was very busy, but well-organized. Our drinks were brought to our table to avoid the crowded bar area. The seating area was spacious. We chose to have only main courses, which all arrived together in very large portions of good quality. The vegetables were served in terrines. Overall, it was a great lunch experience and we will definitely visit again. It was flawless. View menu

We visited on steak night (Thursday, buy one get one free!) and had a great experience. We started with the chilli beef, which was not listed as a starter but they were happy to serve it. The sirloin steaks we had were cooked perfectly and the chips were delicious. The fresh salad was also a standout for me. We finished our meal with a brownie and Vanilla Ice Cream, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is my go to lasagna place. I’ve never found better anywhere else. Always get a generous portion. Rich and flavoursome. I read one review that says there wasn’t enough. All I can say is they must have a huge appetite. I’m sure if they had mentioned this to the staff they would have happily given them some more. Received a nice warm welcome. Lovely traditional country pub with comfortable seating. Staff very attentive. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend.

"I visited my daughter and son-in-law last week and on my request they had booked a table for us on black horse on Saturday night at 1 o'clock. we arrived shortly before the pm and all four of us stood in the bar where two were served. it wasn't busy. no one told us anything until the bar was clear and then one of the ladies looked at me and I said we booked a table in my name of my daughter and she saw the bookings and said oh yes, we had table assigned and pointed into another room. there was no greeting no smiling, so we met our way to the table and sat there. there were no menus on the table, so I stood up to find some and someone only made their way from the other room in the direction of our table. we ordered drinks that were in themselves a task, as they had no free or dietary limmonade, so I had to go to the end for a gin with slimline tonic. then we ordered four different meal times. I ordered a vegetarian curry in naanbrot and when it finally came, I was so disappointed because the naanbrot was burned and the curry was cold on the outside, so I asked them to take it back. the waitress asked if I wanted to order something else and I went back. my daughter then shared some of her meals with me, who were chicken pupils. they were coated in a teig that was extremely fat. the menu does not seem to come out of any meal with fresh vegetables, everything seemed to come with chips and draughts, even the Steak-Mahl came only with chips and draughts, no mushrooms, tomatoes, wobble rings or something. I wasn't impressed. for a pub that wants good reviews, I think they have lost the property. the customer service is everything and fresh vegetables is essential. I'm sorry to be the bearer worse, but we won't come back."
