"Decided to book after many good reviews on Tripadvisor. When booked, told they could squeeze me in at 6:00. After arriving at 6:00, it was empty until the next customers arrived at 7:00!Well, what to say about the decor?? Doesn 't look like it had been decorated since 1972, with wallpaper hanging off the ceiling above the bar and brass light fittings that looked as tired and dirty as the carpet! Whatever you do, do not visit the toilet grim, grim, grim!!Food was mediocre, and charged £91.00 for 2 plus a child!!Owner was snatching empty plates off our table like Basil Fawlty and needs to work on his hosting skills. Overall, fealt like we were eating in somebody 's grubby front room. No idea what the good reviews are about, all I can say is that people are easily pleased. If this is Bridlington 's finest, God help the rest of them!!"

Best food of the week, only a small restaurant but very highly recommend this place, from starters to mains, the chefs food here is the best I've tasted. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Wonderful meal at The Lamp restaurant in Bridlington Old Town.Traditional pub appearance with classic decor to suit a well presented and efficient service. The food was lovely, fresh and as described. It was also very prompt. A particulad highlight was the crackling on the pork belly main course.Thank you very much for our 'walk-in ' seating.

Been to lamp 4 5 times a year for many years now. Always really great food and wine, great service lovely atmosphere. Given the high quality of ingredients and cooking The Lamp is incredible value. I always look forward to my evening, it’s a treat and BBCs special event. I went last week as a group of 5 we all had a fantastic meal and all commented what a great night it was. Thank you

We had not booked, but we’re given a table immediately. The waitress was extremely friendly and very helpful. We had the Sunday roast, and the beef was melt-in-the-mouth delicious, served with a generous helping of several vegetables.I have a milk intolerance, but the chef made me some dairy-free custard (thank you! to go with a fruity crumble.Excellent quality of food at a very reasonable price.

This restaurant was recommended to us and did not disappoint. The menu is changed weekly to take advantage of local produce availability, with a speciality board. The wine list was varied with good quality wines. The service was excellent from friendly, knowledgeable staff. This restaurant offers superb value for money. The only problem was that we were all spoilt for choice and will therefore be retuning again on our next visit to East Yorkshire.

Extremely disappointed with ourmeal here especially after looking at the photos and reviews on trip advisor. I had black pudding with crispy duck for starter. There must have been about 20grams of duck on the plate. Tiny slivers that did not taste fresh and after paying £7.50 for this i felt rather ripped off. My main wasn't much better, I had venison and it just tasted dry and again not very fresh. Both me and my partner left a fair bit of meat on our plates. The waiter did not even ask us how the food was or why we'd left it. Extremly poor customer service.

We have had a Sunday dinner delivery on a number of occasions over the past few months.Lately I have found that the service from various other hospitality outfits has been extremely disappointing, from abrupt people on the phone when booking to poor customer service. However here at The Lamp I have always received fantastic service from the very polite and accommodating person taking my phone order, keeping me informed of the delivery which has always been on time and the quality of the food that arrives. We use the delivery service as I am in a wheelchair and often find dining out a hassle and with The Lamp I can have the same quality food which also arrives hot in the security of my own home...

"Visited today with my wife and month old daughter whilst we are on holiday in the area. We didn’t have a booking but this wasn’t a problem, the staff were friendly throughout and accommodating about lack of booking. We asked for a children’s menu...(website says they have one) but we were advised it’s was the basket meals menu which they advertise as selling to guests sat outside, they did also mention they could make a smaller portion of something from the adult menu. The basket meals menu is mainly fried food and chips, the kind you might share with friends over drinks, I wouldn’t call it a children’s menu. To me a children’s meal should at least come with some option of veg/salad/beans and ideally not be fried, plus the chips that arrived with her chicken bites were salted, not great for little ones. We didn’t make a fuss as for one meal as a treat we weren’t unduly worried but it would put me off going back with children. They also charged the full basket meal price so no reduction for children. Our meals, fried garlic mushrooms, salt and pepper chicken goujons to start then a beef burger and chicken burger as mains, arrived promptly and were generous portions. The food was fine, nothing spectacular just average pub food. The main issue on our visit and the thing that made the whole meal much more stressful and unenjoyable was the flies, we were sat in what they called the restaurant area and our whole meal start to finish was disrupted by or flies continuously buzzing round us, trying to land on our food and land on us, not fun. I accept that or flies can be around when doors or windows are open and it’s hard to stop them coming when food is around but or round us and more to be seen in the room seems too many to me, it really put us off especially when they were landing on our daughter. At the point of eating the meal we didn’t raise the issue as we couldn’t see that anything could be done about it and I’m sure the staff are not a fan of the flies either. I did raise the issue whilst paying and was told they knew about the problem and were doing their best to solve it, sadly for us it would stop me wanting to go again. All in all not a great experience and the food whilst nice enough wasn’t good enough to overcome the issue of the flies and the lack of a proper children’s menu."
