"of us visited the Pear Tree tonight to celebrate a birthday. We all had starters, mains and desserts. I had posh sausage rolls to start which were divine. Somebody else had trout and the majority, chicken wings with Stilton dip. Fantastic start to the...meal. For mains between us we had The Pear tree burger, hake, belly pork and steaks. All was cooked to perfection. For desserts we had Sticky toffee pudding and marmalade croissant bread and butter pudding. There wasn’t the slightest thing to fault. The atmosphere was great, the servers polite and efficient. Well done and thank you to everyone at the Pear Tree."

We had a pint of Punk IPA and a vodka with slimline tonic, and it was so good that we won't be coming back here for at least three days. View menu

Went away for a few days with our dogs. The hotel was beautiful, staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back. So glad we found a wonderful place to stay where we could take our dogs.

good atmosphere and friendly staff. as vegetarian I had a job to get something I wanted to eat and what I chose, I left most of it. but my carnivore man enjoyed all his decisions. I would be as a gastro-pub with the...usual fishing and chips, steak, burger etc. with some others. View menu

The food, service, and atmosphere at this restaurant were all excellent. The scotch egg with black pudding was a perfect starter. For my main course, I had the fish and the flavors were amazing. The waiter was attentive, helpful, and polite. They were able to accommodate my request for a specific alternative to mixed vegetables without any issues. We did not feel rushed and definitely plan to return.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
