"We visited The Red Lion for lunch at midday on a Wednesday in the May half term holiday whilst visiting the area. Half of our large party were toddlers /under 5s. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff, for example by children's cutlery being provided without having to ask for it. The staff all seemed to be very happy to be working here! The restaurant area felt spacious and pleasant rather than dingy. The toilets were clean. It seems that the pub has recently been renovated or similar for example the baby change unit looked like it hadn't been used yet. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the swordfish, the ribs, the house burger, the kids had Bolognese, followed by the chocolate brownie and ice cream. Don't let that chef leave!"

Room a little noisy as over the air conditioning units and woke me several times during the night. Room very clean and staff very helpful, but sadly a disturbed night

Great stay near Eurotunnel on way home from France. Friendly helpful staff. Good parking for bikes. A bit of road noise but we could have shut windows and used fan provided. Spotlessly clean.

Very basic place to stay but staff were great very helpful. Told us they do not provide gluten free biscuits in the toom but they provided others. Be aware breakfast is not included you will need to settle the bill at the end of your stay.

Met friend (Doug who recommended here) here for a meal on Monday. Nice food good selection and specials board. Excellent choice of local ales and nice wine friendly atmosphere (it was busy which is nearly always a good recommendation and reasonably priced. Convenient for public transport and carpark available.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. The serving staff were very friendly, with a cheerful smile. Our Sunday roast was excellent: I judge pub restaurant roasts by the roast potatoes, as that is the hardest to taste like home cooked ours were superb! I can highly recommend the Red Lion and would definitely go there again.

for the very reasonable price that we have paid, completely error-free. the staff was very polite and friendly, without being intrusive. the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and we had a nice quiet night sleep. the breakfast was delicious and served cake hot. there were vegan and veggie options available. in location it is great with free parking and just a short walk from the high st and the seafront.

Stayed here Monday to Friday in April for a bit of a getaway from it all break and was delighted with our choice, the place was spotless throughout. Our room No 2 was large light and airy the bed was quite big and very comfortable, our on suite bathroom and shower were very clean and in excellent order. The hosts and staff were also excellent and made us very welcome the whole time. Restaurant, food fantastic as was the ale and not too expensive. Overall we had a brilliant 5 day's visiting Dover Castle, Rye and the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway plus several walks along the beach which was only a short walk from the Inn. Tom and Jane.
