"Up in Angus for the week and we were determined to visit this pub before heading back to Edinburgh, we were not disappointed. The pub is very welcoming indeed, not just it's ambience but the staff/owners as well. A very warm welcome for our furry 4 legged woofer always goes down well. We stopped for lunch, scampi and chips and lasagne and chips, both very pleasing, good size portions and very tasty. We had a pudding too, the ginger sponge and custard and the warm chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, which rounded off the lunch very well. It's great to see a pub that is still a pub and serving great food too. Well worth the visit. Thank you to the lovely staff for making us feel so welcome and for feeding us very well indeed, what a pleasure."

The staff treated me with discontent, not impressed. Young bar maid was nice, older one was rude to me and my party, all of us were not impressed

Excellent service and very welcoming. Had lunch with a friend she's vegetarian and I'm gluten free with various allergies on top, absolutely no trouble eating there. Lindsey was so helpful when I messaged her before going. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

This is a lovely friendly and welcoming pub right at the heart of Kirrie. The owners are really friendly and do a lot for the community. The food is really tasty and I love the themed menus. Very much recommend! Vegetarian options: Plenty options, and vegan if you ask. Dietary restrictions: They will try to accommodate any requests and allergy restrictions. Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming for families. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible garden, pub and toilets. Recommended dishes: Bellie's Tandoori Chicken Burger, Fish Fingers, Chips, Sticky Toffee Pudding with Hot Toffee Sauce Served with Cream, Swedish Meatball Salsa Cheddar, Coleslaw

"Overall, we had a disappointing family meal at the local restaurant. We booked for a table of 12 for my mum's birthday. We were the only table when we arrived. Another table of 2 arrived during our main course. There was a friendly informal server when we arrived though I got the impression he was not a formal waiter as he did not know much about the menu. He also disappeared after a short time. After this time, we were served by one of the kitchen staff. Obviously, this led to inadequate and slow service. The meals were served very slowly. We had no option to order more drinks throughout the meal. Our main course plates were not taken away after we finished and after waiting for a while we decided just to leave and get deserts at home. Some comments about the food. We were told when we first arrived that there were no steaks. That reduced our options considerably. However, what surprised us was one of the diners at the other table was served a steak! We were told that they do not have tomato sauce. This is highly unusual for a restaurant that serves steak, burgers and chicken tenders with chips. One of our party member nipped down the road to a local shop and bought a bottle ketchup for the table. The food was okay but we felt it was very one dimensional. A lot of the dishes were served in a similar manner with the same dressings and toppings. The chips were a little greasy. I would have wished that our experience was better but unfortunately it wasn't so. I understand how difficult it must be for the restaurant trade just now and we try and support local businesses. However, we would still expecting decent service and food. I tried to message the restaurant in the first instance for a response but have not received any reply."
