"fantastic pub in a great location with ingenious dining, service and entertainment. we had luck coming over the blue lion after friends there had also visited a great experience from a previous one. they get a really friendly local feeling from the employees and the customers who like to think about what to do in the opposite. they have a great menu and were more than happy to support specific nutritional requirements. would highly recommend along with the accomodation, which also available amazing."

"Like many other people, my wife and I were amazed by the great reviews for the food and service at this relatively small restaurant in Llandrillo. We were staying in Corwen, the night before going to a wedding, and we were very lucky indeed to get a table for 8pm. We were not disappointed Caroline and Chris are both very welcoming, attentive and the food is simply stunning (and the wine was great too). Chris is a magician! He really is brilliant at what he does. He is so thorough and he has clearly spent many years honing his craft – there is so much attention to detail. If you (and your family and friends) like good food, then this is the place to go! The flavours, textures, temperatures and presentation of the food are all excellent. The size of the portions are really good and sensible and the relatively low prices are amazing (especially considering the very high standard of the cuisine and service). We’ve eaten out twice recently, one in a city restaurant and the other in a country pub. We paid much more for each course and while the food was good it was not as good as that served at the Berwyn Restaurant. This restaurant is very highly recommended but, we were lucky, book in advance to avoid disappointment!"

"If you’re looking for beautifully home cooked Sunday lunch then give the Dudley Arms a visit. Although we live on the coast the drive to the Dudley Arms is a picturesque one in amongst beautiful scenery. On arrival you get a warm welcome, attentive service and beautifully cooked food. We had a roast beef and toast lamb mix that melted in your mouth with delicious gravy and there was a range of desserts that were so delicious it was difficult to just choose one. We all had something different but everyone was as delicious as the next. The Dudley Arms also has luxurious accommodation should you wish to spend a few days exploring the wonderful surroundings. Will definitely try that next time."

"I 've visited Abul 's Spice regularly over the last few years. Always had an excellent Biryani, enjoyed talking with the friendly owner, commiserated about the difficulties during the pandemic. Sad to see it close. Then, pleased to see it had reopened until I experienced the new owner 's attitude and food. I phoned in with a takeaway order for myself and a friend and was told what my friend wanted was on the old menu. Changed order. Arrived to collect the order only to be told they no longer accept credit/debit cards (why couldn 't they have told me on the phone? . Eventually manged to find a method of payment. Took the takeaway away, eager tpo eat what I expected to be good. However, vegetable biryani had few vegetables in it. Sauce was basically tomato puree. Went back to complain. Greeted by a very hostile attitude and a denial that I had any grounds to complain. Asked to speak with the owner and was told he would be there on Saturday and Sunday. Phoned on Sunday only to be told that the owner was the person I had previously spoken with when I went back to complain. It 's not the same business! Be warned! The 'Best curry house ' stuff refers to a previous owner. I know what a good biryani comprises and tastes like. There 's is not that. I won 't be returning."

Pale Hall

"On arrival we were informed 'you are in for a treat '. The result was exactly the opposite. I had telephoned 30 hours in advance to confirm we were one vegetarian and my son did not eat smoked salmon. It took 5 attempts to speak to someone who confirmed this was all in order. On arrival I was 'interogated ' by a female member of management who had the most awful personal hygiene issue. 'When did I telephone '? Who did I speak to? Did I know my wife was vegetarian as this presented a problem!!! Finally this was all resolved and we were served dry sandwiches and scones and cake which was at best 'poor '. 3 requests for drinks went unfulfilled and finally a disgruntled waitress served us. Trying to pay the account was difficult in the extreme and when I went to the main entrace hall area the original member of management apologised for the misunderstanding and said 'is £50 alright for all of you '. I will not return and despite a letter to management from my son there has been no response. My advice is forget Pale Hall for afternoon tea and get a train to London where the art of afternoon tea and service is alive and well."
