"Took our parents for Sunday lunch ... We've been a number of times before and always really enjoyed the food and the service was always superb. This was our first visit since the refurb. Initial observation was that it is now more of a sports bar than a restaurant, which was exacerbated by the large TV screens above the central bar and loud chart music, not conducive to a pleasant dining experience. Starters were okay. The main meal however left a lot to be desired and that's exactly what all four of us did .... We left a lot! We each left the majority of our meal. First fail was the lack of hot plates. The food was bland, no taste, pigs in blankets and roast potatoes we're under cooked, whilst the sprouts were so watery I couldn't eat them and the parsnips were soggy and also inedible (this from a woman who loves her veg) On a positive note the gammon and the Yorkshire pudding were tasty. Beef was tough. When the waitress came over to ask if everything was alright we gave her our feedback. She said she'd tell the chef, and returned a short while later to say the chef sent his apologies! That was it. I thought it was usual for the chef to apologise personally not send someone else to do it for him? We thought we'd make up for the main course by enjoying the profritaroles ... Nope, rock hard with the choux pastry like cardboard. I understand why you have to pay for your meal BEFORE you eat now!! Very disappointed at what wasn't a cheap lunch at £75 for four carveries and four soft drinks. Did expect at least an apology from management but no one even came to speak to us."

eating came too fast to be fresh and some courses not warm. very expensive in considering its easy-to-be pub food.

Service wasn’t the best and the food was even worse me and my friend had to send our food back (burgers) as they were not cooked, awful!

It was just ok, we thought it was much nicer when it was St. David's, we much preferred the nice restaurant before the refurb, it's nice if you just going for a drink

Food was terrible, meat was dry, veg over cooked. Had to hunt a staff member down for gravy. They had changed the unlimited to a set plate which was tiny and no published prices. Definitely not worth the extortionate price

Staff were not aware of current offers which became embarrassing whilst discussing and proving their lack of knowledge. Sunday lunch/Carvery does not seem to work in a sports themed bar. Tables were squeezed close together. Noise levels were shocking. Will not return now the football season is nearly back.

some time since we have been to this restraint and expected a quiet Sunday buffet like last time, did not know it had been taken over so we were extremely shocked to walk in and find televisions everywhere and noise level off the scale it is a wonderful place for people who like this sort of thing but it is not for us so we will not be going again

The new style Sunday lunch, which was NOT made clear through advertising or point of booking is a big let down from previous menu. Small starter choice, plated lunch with reheated shrivelled vegetables and served Luke warm. NO dessert included just brunch items like muffins to select. At £15.95 a person this is very overpriced especially as a Marstons restaurant adjacent offes far better value for money. After making a complaint to customer services, I am really disappointed by the return email response. We chose St Davids as a special occasion birthday meal choice and can honestly say I would not recommend to others.

"Family of 4 visiting for a meal. We were seated in the little side room to the left as you enter the pub. It was a little cold and I didn’t want to risk turning the heater on as there were no legs on it and it looked a bit dodgy. Anyway the food wasn’t great overall. My partner had the chicken tikka with rice and Nan and he said that was nice but not enough of it. He ordered cheesy chunky chips and they seemed nice too to be fair. My and my son decided to just have deserts and mine was the chick fudge cake with cherry flavour and ice cream. Was nice enough but would have expected a slightly bigger slice for £6. My youngest has the kids brownie and ice cream. He complained it was dry and horrible to so said let me try and was shocked it wasn’t just dry it tasted stale. Then my other son tried it and said the same. When asked if all was ok I said yes apart from that and they said they would tell the kitchen. It was taken off the bill to be fair but he wasn’t offered anything else. My eldest had sausage mash and gravy and said it was nice enough just lots of lumps in the mash. The youngest then decided to want food (given he has only ate the scoop of ice cream) so we order kids pizza. It’s looked amazing but was full of grease under the base so he ate half a price and spat it out on the plate (sorry) we didn’t bother mentioning this we paid and left. Shame really, the locals were chatty and friendly and the service was good apart from offering to rectify the stale brownie for the 10 year old. We wouldn’t return there is nicer around."
