"I was taken to this lovely restaurant by French friends for lunch on the last day of my Dordogne holiday. It was a beautiful late September day and we sat at a table on the flower bedecked flagstone terrasse at the back of the restaurant. It...forms a shady island in the river on which the restaurant is located on the shoreline. We were charmed by the Mallard ducks swimming in the little lagoon between the kitchen and the awning shaded terrasse. The service was attentive and friendly and the food delicious. We all ordered the three course formule, which was two deep fried cones with a subtle goat cheese filling, followed by a simple slice of Dorade with a light sauce beneath it and sides of puréed vegetables, finished up with a light and airy Tiramisu, all beautifully presented. Along with a bottle of L’Ancien Curé Sauvignon Blanc and petits cafés to finish, it was a wonderful meal and the charming owner came out to speak with my hosts and wish me Bon Voyage back to Canada."

great evening! charming waitress who has declared us every court. we started with a house cocktail and a very generous amouse bouche. the two set menus or à la carte option have been added with a good wine list. very enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend. the restaurant.

Fantastic restaurant where you get 6 courses but pay for 3 olives, amuse bouche and goats cheese with bacon in a beautiful setting on the water. Really friendly staff who accommodated us without a booking we were lucky, so make sure you make ahead! . Perfect way...to end our holiday.

in the last two years the restaurant was actually closed a new owner and cook this time is open and we decided to test it. great idea that eating was delicious, much taste, local sweets with excellent delicious juice. outdoor terrace with views of a...peaceful river with escape. a good place I recommend for food lovers. portions are in the right size. the service was made with the application, even if I suspect that the waiter is a beginner. reasonable price

We had a lovely lunch here. Although with the heatwave it was too hot to sit outside 37 degrees , which was a shame but understandable, it has beautiful views over the Dordogne river. Those who didn’t have a starter had their main served at the...same time as the starters. Only 1 choice for children, Moules. Which they enjoyed but another choice would have been welcome. Facilities all nice and clean. The chutney with the Fois Gras was amazing and the Assiette de Mer beautiful. A few of us tried Margret de Canard which was perfectly cooked with a creamy rich mushroom sauce.

the bark wellington was more to do with wellington's leather boots! it was unusable. there was only one person serving 28 people, so the service was bad. the waitress rushed around like a person who was not helpful to a meal in one. very expensive restaurant to enjoy. in the past, this restaurant was excellent with previous owners, where the service was excellent and eating very well. Unfortunately, this is not the case now. we will not visit again until the management changes that I expect will soon be when we spoke with other hospitable in the restaurant that had the same opinion as we had. they will not return either!

This is a beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to eat outside and had lovely views of the river which runs each side. It did get a bit chilly as the night went on but the waiter offered us a fleece to...put on which was very welcome. We opted for the €27 3 course set menu which provided plenty of choice, I started with the fish skewers which were gorgeous followed by a cod dish which they call fish soup finishing with ice cream. Others in the group had lamb shank and guinea fowl they all said their dishes were beautiful. It offers an extensive menu, the staff are attentive but not in your face and we left feeling we had all enjoyed a fantastic meal in a fantastic re...

e and endsIn my last review I was enthused about their lunch menu for 15 €, as the quality, variety and creativity of the dishes they offered at such a rock bottom price was second to none in the Dordgne region. But when I checked their...menu now, the new onwers try to profit from the reputation that this restaurant has won thanks to their former owners. No more 'plat du jour' at 15€, now the fun starts at 32€, goes to 42€ and ends at 55€. That must be the reason why former Fil de l'Eau customers now storm the nearby 'Bastide Capraise' which offers menus starting at 22€. I have commented our last visit there, but I still regret the delights to which we were treated at the Fil de l'Eau under...

"When we arrived at 12.15 we wondered if they were open, we could see no-one inside or out, then we noticed a couple of lights on. We were also confounded to see that the lunch-time menu had reached the low and high twenties for two and three courses respectively. There was a plat-de-jour at 11€ and a dessert-de-jour at 3€. I’m sounding like a bit of a skinflint and that’s probably true, but all the same the restaurant was far emptier than I’ve seen it for a long time and there seemed to be a complete absence of anyone who wasn’t a ‘leisure’ user. Lots of English and a couple of large groups of French, but the workers seem to have disappeared. We’d have liked a starter, but that wasn’t to be, so straight into the main course. A choice of Pavé de Beouf or Tendrons de Veau. The explanation of what a tendron is was too difficult for us and a quick google translate didn’t enlighten. We opted for the beef, mine saignant, P’s a point. It was served with potatoes, and vegetables, consisting of tomatoes and courgette in a herby sauce. I had a good thick slab of beef whilst P had two thinner pieces. It was good beef, but I wasn’t able to eat a lot of it because I couldn’t cut it despite being furnished with a steak knife. I’m carrying a wrist injury sustained at work and I just couldn’t cut through the tendons which intersected the meat. It’s a shame we hadn’t brought the dog, I feel embarrassed sending half my food back. We love this place and I’m sorry to have to write less than fulsomely about our meal, that’s a shame."
