"We family of 4 , all adults and our dog) had a thoroughly enjoyable evening last night. I must admit I hesitated having read some of the reviews, but very glad I went ahead and booked. The place has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and of course a fantastic location made all the better by a beautiful sunset. It wasn 't too busy which allowed us to have a table all to ourselves. 6 adults on a table would be comfortable but 8, depending on size, perhaps a squeeze. The food is cooked fresh to order, right in front of you, and the smells are fantastic. There was a good choice of menu all displayed clearly on large blackboards, seafood platter was off due to previous days weather preventing fishing), and everything was hot and flavoursome. Although this is a 'simple ' beach house, the food which is restaurant standard not 'pub grub ')and service is great, the prices reflect this. Perhaps in high season things may get more hectic but from our visit, no complaints. Great evening finished off with a beach walk."

This used to be a destination the seafood platters were the best we’d ever tasted! Food now nowhere near as good most of original menu gone! No prawns for sustainability reasons waitress explained! Better stop serving the fish then

We absolutely adore the beach house for its amazing food and service. This summer, we have become familiar with Sam (the chef) and John (the manager), who have provided incredible food and service. We feel truly pampered! I love this place and cannot wait to visit again soon. The fish, especially the day boat, is exceptional. Looking forward to returning in October. Thank you!

The service here was dire we queued for so long for coffees that we gave up on food. The outdoor tables were all dirty with plates etc and in poor condition generally/needed a good tidy up. The lady writing on the chalk boards rather than helping with the huge queue and dirty tables should be embarrassed! The prices are extortionate. The only saving grace is the location but even then if you sit outside you’re by a dusty road. Avoid!

The service was friendly and the location was beautiful, but you definitely pay for it! We ordered a fried fish platter and a portion of fries to share. The fries came in a small ramekin and cost £8 (just fancy salted potatoes). The fish was tasty but overpriced at £18 for five or six small pieces with garlic mayonnaise. The Aperol spritz was £10 but came pre-mixed in a small bottle. Unfortunately, we can't afford to eat there again.

We were warmly welcomed and seated inside, it’s lovely and friendly and was fairly busy despite being a breezy Tuesday in October. The food was good, we ordered cheese and chutney sandwiches, one bowl of chips and two local beers (cans). The chutney was delicious as was the beer but the bill was £40.50!! It would make me think twice about returning unfortunately. We went to the Sloop in Bantham just around the bay and the sandwiches were just as good and much better value in my opinion.

The Beachhouse was always a highlight of our holiday every year. Today, we were terribly disappointed. The changed menu has removed all our favourites, most of the seafood, and is now worse than pub food. Fish burgers, for heavens sake, and no more Bang Bang Prawns, Sizzling Prawns, Calamari, Scallops were unavailable BUT the prices are sky high now. £32 for the catch of the day fish with no vegetables or accompaniments at all. The Frito Misto was pale and flabby and unappetising, £18. Rosemary Thyme sourdough with foraged seaweed butter pat, was just plain bread, £7. Seaweed Salt on French Fries- no salt apparent at all. We will not return.

We are local and live this cute little beach shack cafe.. it’s as good restaurant as any in Devon as they use fresh produce and make the food to order. We were walking on the beach and had time to stop in about 7pm sat outside and ora glass of red 1 rosé and decided to share a bucket of mussels for £19.50 The bill came to £60… what a surprise …. Front of house was a smarmy cnt who decided his take in the till was more important than his customers. Long story… we decided to swap the bread with the mussels for a bit of salad charged £8 House red £9.50 Took the recommended rose at £12.50 That’s per glass !! and it wasn’t even very good!! Service charge oat milk in the take away coffee 50p each…...

Located in a prime beachfront spot, this beach shack had a strong local reputation. Looking for a quick lunch like a sandwich or ploughman's, we were disappointed to find that they weren't available. Instead, we were told to sit outside and wait for service. The menu was only displayed on chalkboards with mainly fish dishes, so I had to inquire about vegetarian options. A veggie burger was offered, so we ordered two along with fries and tea. The total bill came to £39, including added VAT and service charge at the end, which seemed pricey for a simple snack. The burgers were tasty but lacking in side accompaniments, served on small tin plates. Overall, the experience left much to be desired...

Such a disappointment. The place is in a great location and could be an incredible destination, but far too many issues. First off, adding service charges and vat to the bill wasn't advertised and made this one of the most expensive meals we'd eaten in our time in the area. It's a sneaky practice and would put me off ever returning. The sausage sandwich: 13 pounds ish for unbuttered, slightly stale bread and a few average quality sausages. Avoid The mussles were of decent quality but lacking in flavour, and not enough bread. I'd ordered the larger portion but wasn't enough mussles or bread. The arrancini was nice and seaweed chips both nice but nothing special. And the lady who served us was...
