"Came here to celebrate my birthday whilst camping nearby. We ate outside in the Garden Tent which had a lovely ambience, and plenty of outdoor heaters didn 't need to be in doors! the food was lovely steak tender and well cooked. Some of our party had fish was was amazing, and the starter of Confit Duck was fab. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive, and were very apologetic for a couple of minor issues that arose with the ordering system but they corrected the mistakes quickly and apologised what more can you ask for! I would definatley be back."

Two out of four had plaice which were microscopic portions. As a man, I was left ravenous as it contained 4 mouthfuls of food and I have had bigger starters. Fish and chips were OK as was steak pie. Bill for one course Inc one drink each was £83 at lunchtime. Very poor value for money. View menu

My husband and i came for dinner with family and the food was nice, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. They have a nice garden out the back which we came to on a different day during our holiday and it was really nice to sit and relax with a drink and some pork scractchings after tackling the walk of the Gorge.

Well worth a visit. Highly recommend. We have just had lunch and it was the best meal we have enjoyed on our mini break in the area. The chef knows there ingredients and how to present great food full of flavour. I would happily recommend a visit. The staff were very friendly, happy to have a chat and clearly know how their trade.

This is a warm, cosy pub to drink and dine in. The ales are good I recommend Proper Job. The tables were distanced, but we had to ask another couple to move a little (they were obliging) to preserve covid safety. The food is good. My burger with pulled pork was about as good as I've ever had, really well cooked. An easy place to visit in a little village with some good local attractions (Lydford Gorge, Lydford Castle). This was a complete accident coming here and what a beautiful mistake it was. First time me and mum cycled passed and stopped for quite literally the best cream tea we’ve ever had. So when me and my partner were in the area I booked us lunch, the pub itself is cozy and friendly the beer garden relaxing and gorgeous. We had a delicious BLT which was hot and perfect followed by once again the best cream tea, highly recommend.

The Castle Inn is situated right next to Lydford Castle. We called into the bar side whilst visiting the area. Didn’t see the main restaurant side, but the bar area was fabulous. Full of history oozing with country pub charm. With a big roaring fire friendly staff we were quickly made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Dog friendly with a huge jar of dog treats on the bar. We were only there for drinks, but it was a very enjoyable experience from what I could see the food being served to a group of local men looked delicious.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
