"Why has this restaurant had a makeover that resembles the competition. Hard floors plastic tables all a clatter if it ever fills up. The plot has been lost along with the unique selling point that any successful business desires. It has had the photos signed by the stars replaced by modern images which could have been purchased at a cheap decor shop. The food was not up to that expected to make you want to return, so I will pass to hopefully better eateries. Drinks over priced and red wine came in a glass that looked like it was barely pub quality. If you are going to serve a good wine put it in a glass that at least looks the part."

This was a delicious meal. We had gravad lax with kumquats, chicken liver pate (bit too salty but otherwise perfect) steak, ox cheek, banana parfait and tarte tatin. The desserts were good but not as excellent as the rest. View menu

The food was good but we waited over an hour for our first course and then another hour for the 2nd. We couldn’t understand because on the ground floor it was almost empty (our table and 2 others). Apparently there was a party upstairs but they were not doing any better as they kept coming downstairs to complain they were waiting too long for their food. Shame. Good location and when the food came it was ok but we would not go again. And after having to wait hours to get through 2 courses I would have expected to see a discount. Nothing.

We were a large family group meeting up for a post Christmas celebratory lunch. There were only 2 other diners apart from us, but the food still took ages to arrive and was overcooked and barely warm when it did. Grilled tiger prawns were tough and dry and the vegetarian option provided a scant 2 slices of halloumi hardly a main course portion. From such a long established restaurant with a solid reputation for quality the reason we chose it it was all hugely disappointing. I can only assume the kitchen was not fully staffed in the period between Christmas and New Year.
