"little samsi, now renamed 'japan' since a few weeks, is a beautiful little hidden shade right outside of withington village, over the road from the red lion. it has only seats for about 20 25 people at any time, and so fills quite quickly, but if they carefully select their timings, then it is not too difficult to get a place. the first time for me was usually around 9 o'clock, but at any time outside the usual munching hours (like 12 13.30 o'clock, and 6 7.30ish it seems easy to get a place and eat some of their delicious food. in consideration of the pint size of the nature of this device, its selection is quite extensive, including its evil cool o Bento boxes, which can be chosen by each element of them, so it comes exactly as they want it massive golden stars for those of this restless eater! they can choose the meat / vegetables option (of which there are two! hoorah,! the sose and there are two types of brilliant!? they also have five types of rammen that I just worship (I decided to ram with nice gyoza a very reasonable £5.50, sushi come out of their ears (they can buy a chef's 32 pieces especially when they're super hungry! , curry rice and curry noodle dishes, as well as fusion sandwiches like the yakisoba sandwich, which is a chicken noodle sandwich. a little bit for everyone and every methinks! They have a small shop area where I kindly taste the sweet tasty hello panda a charming panda shaped tocuity taste-proof. I love her. but they also have noodles, sauces, spices and other essentials make it to home ingredients at a reasonable price. Although there are of course not the same bargains that can be found in the Chinese super markets like wing yip, but it is less than ten minutes to foot from my house and I am lazy enough to be ready to pay for the convenience! the service there has always been provided with a smile and a chat without being in such an intimate environment intrusive, and the smells that drive through the sitting area from the nearby kitchen get these tastes before they even get their food. yum yum! it is worth noting that they have no alcohol for sale in the restaurant, but they informed us kindly that we were welcome to just bump on the off license over the street and bring any alcohol we want. and I did not see any cork fee on the bill, which was great! if they are not over a wee tipple with their scran, though, they have a very choice all in all this is a beautiful change from the usual places I go for eating in withington, and I would definitely be more than happy to entertain friends or family in this picturesque little eastern shade."

Lovely place. Great service. Really friendly. Never really tried Japanese food before and this was just wonderful. I would 100% recommend the salmon and avacado roll with Japanese mayo, really nice. Not bad prices either.

a place that was next door and prompt service encouraged me to visit japan deli quite often. it is better if they call and place the order if they don't want to wait. the place is small and doesn't look great, but sushi and Bento box are really good if they want a quick lunch or dinner.

I cannot recommend japan deli very much. I had both delivery and eating, both great. I am not even a fan of sushi, I hate fish! but their endamame, gyoza and katsu (but only called chicken curry on the menu) are fantastic. my friend, who is actually a sushi fan, says it's the best in the opposite. she recommends the california handroll.

Interestingly, they don’t serve alcohol, which I personally don’t mind; sushi feels so healthy that pairing it with a pint seems a bit ironic. Pricing is also very reasonable, with two pieces of Nigiri sushi costing around £2.50. In addition to sushi, Little Samsi operates as a sort of Japanese corner shop, selling items like Aloe Vera water, wasabi, and sushi-making kits. If you're looking for something a bit different in the Withington area, Little Samsi is definitely the place to go. View menu

What a little gem! Fresh quality food at a very great price. I had the takoyaki, tuna temaki and salmon nigiri and they were all absolutely superb and fresh at prices that rival chain stores. The guy running the place was a pleasure to talk to and I couldn't stop myself from emptying my entire wallet for a tip. First time here and I will definitely be back : I recommend this place to people wanting to try sushi for the first time and sushi veterans alike. The interior has a homely charm and you help yourself to cutlery and sauces.

as alfie says, do not expect an intelligent restaurant. expect decent Japanese foods to be reasonable. until I just discovered her website, I didn't know that little samsi was a relationship to the samsis in the city center. I just assumed that samsi was the Japanese equivalent of the Chinese wing and appeared in all restaurant names. the menu is diverse, but focuses on sushi (I am not brave enough to order the oktopus sushi,) nudel and bento boxes. the Bento boxes are really good value for money for £4 they get a box with their choice of main, sauce, reisnudel and a kartoffel salad filled. everything is freshly prepared and there are many possibilities for vegetarians, including mistsuppe,...

This Samsi might be Little, but great things come in small packages. Hey, you may hear that a lot in life, I know... but in this case it's absolutely true! The baby of the Samsi family in Manchester, I wholeheartedly agree with other yelpers that it certainly holds its own and maintains the quality of its big siblings. From the moment I walked in I was treated exceptionally well, to the extent that when I offered for them to keep the change, they told me to take it as it was my first time there and I should see what I thought of the food first. Where else do you get that?!? And the food was all kinds of awesome. I grabbed some take out for the evening a bit of yaki roba and ramen soup, gyoza... View menu

In fact, the sushi here matches the quality of the more upscale versions but at significantly lower prices, with items starting at under £2 each. There’s an extensive selection available, and the sushi is beautifully presented on authentic Japanese platters, accompanied by traditional ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce, along with a variety of uniquely flavored sesame seed pots to sprinkle on your rice. The plum-flavored sesame seeds, for example, pair wonderfully with soy sauce. While the lack of alcohol might be a downside for some, it's offset by a range of interesting beverages, including both hot and refreshing cold Japanese tea. The restaurant's décor is authentic, creating a lovely ambia...

Almost all of their products are imported directly from Japan, creating a visually stunning display. It’s best to ask the staff about the items instead of trying to decipher them on your own. During a recent visit, I nearly confused a bottle of miso with one of oil since they look so similar! Labeling them in English would certainly help, perhaps with a marker pen. This Japanese "takeaway" is a far cry from typical late-night snacks; their menu is packed with healthy options that prioritize taste. With an array of soups, sushi, wraps, noodle dishes, and curries, plus Japanese cakes and teas, it truly is a one-stop haven for Japanese cuisine. Alongside the food offerings, there's a delightfu...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
