"We have visited this restaurant for many years and for different occasions, birthdays, evening meals and Sunday lunches. The staff are extraordinarily helpful and friendly. Going way beyond the call of duty, during a recent hr power cut in our village, we spent the evening sitting by their blazing fire, sharing a delicious meal and then having our failing phones and iPads recharged . The food is well prepared and delicious, the Sunday lunch the very best in the area. We have been with grand children who love the freedom of the garden and often eat outside in summer enjoying the beautiful views. It fully deserves its star rating"

The Baron of Beef is very typical of a traditional country pub/restaurant with a warm friendly feel to it.

It was our second visit to baron at bucknell. We stayed in one of the garden rooms with hot tub. The facilities and food was outstanding once again and we came back home really relaxed . Highly recommend!!

"On a beautiful Tuesday in August, my mother, our friend, and I decided to go out for a meal. In this area, not everything is open on weekdays for lunch, so I called to see if they were serving, having been there a couple of years ago. I didn't realize that the restaurant is now under different management, but after a quick search on Tripadvisor, the reviews looked good, so we made a reservation for 1pm and headed over. We were greeted by Amy, a lovely lady behind the bar. She was very friendly and couldn't do enough to help (thank you, Amy!). We then sat in the beer garden and chose our meals. We all decided on the two-course £10 menu. My mother went for the ham and potatoes, our friend chose the cod and chips, and I, being more health-conscious as I've been trying to lose weight, asked if I could possibly have the pear and blue cheese salad on the starter menu, but as a main course? Andy was happy to accommodate (thank you, Andy!). Our meals came out, brought by Lydia, who was a cheerful and friendly person and also said it was no trouble to make the salad for me (thank you, Lydia!). I was very grateful, as anyone who has dieted and eaten out will surely understand! Anyway, everything was absolutely delicious! Each meal was well presented and smelled wonderful, and I can honestly say it tasted as good as it looked! 3 very happy people. For dessert, the ladies had Eton mess, and Andy kindly made me a fruit salad with strawberries, pineapples, and pears! It wasn't on the menu, but he allowed me to have 'pud' with the others! Everything was truly wonderful and I can only say good things. We are determined to return as soon as possible to try the evening menu, which looks lovely. Andy (the chef) came out to chat with us after our meal and he was very enthusiastic and passionate about his food, which was really nice to see. He clearly cares a lot about what he serves. Highly recommended!"
