"it says something about a restaurant if all four of us could have chosen happy every single thing on the menu. the appetizers were hotly discussed with a set about the chicken and deenterrine, two of us choose the spade with the...grown Parmesan queestard and the fourth choice for the tempoura haddock. all the appetizers were wonderful, but the squid was on another level. the most important courses were easier to choose, two had the rib-eye-shader plate, I had the rib-eye and my man went for the black bauch. all were fantastic, good that we were so hungry! and then there were the desserts a stunning looking Eton fair for one and then two afogato both fabulous. a first visit to the duck for all of us and we will be back! the food was, as described, sublim. the personal was very professional, but friendly. the wine list was also perfect, something to supplement any dish."

11 of us for birthday Sunday dinner. the food was delicious and inventive, huge portions and every amount of choice. everything was served hot, which is not a common offer when they are catering for large pieces. service was very friendly and accommodating, without being intrusive. that could not blame! as I have a dog, I like to see a place to foot and eat. After I say on the website with him “muddy boots and dogs welcome” I was optimistic as eating and restaurant looks too beautiful so it is true but I won’t lie this was the best Sunday rogue I’ve ever eaten! Not only that, but they have made me, my mother and my English bull terrier very welcome and nothing was too much to ask!

Arrived to a very loud and noisy bar to find out our table was next to the door, across from the bar and next to noisy drinkers. We waited 15 mins for a drink although the drinkers at the bar where served ahead of our drinks order.....we knew then we had made a mistake! The food was excellent we both cleared our plate but atmosphere, service and attention to detail was lacking. Would not return in the immediate future.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
