"This is not a review of the food, as I didn't eat. Nor is it the accomodation, as I didn't stay. It is a review of a pint of Guinness I had there today. Tuesday afternoon, nice and quiet.. popped in for a pint. £5.10p. Very reasonable. Unfortunately downhill from there. I'll bullet point the problems.. to avoid a drawn out affair.. 1. The glass wasn't dry. You can tell this from the creeping mottled effect visible. 2. The head is about 5mm 3. There is Guinness spilt down the outside of the glass. 4. It tasted utterly awful. The first three problems on this list are forgivable.. but the last isn't. I've had many pints of Guinness, in many places.. but this was in the bottom 3. Very disappointed. Given that you can buy a four pack from the supermarket for roughly the same outlay.. people bemoan pubs going out of business... but do we ask why? Bartenders being able to pour/keep a decent pint helps.."

With the launch of the new menu they had on Monday, we came for lunch and had the new Chorizo, Sun Blushed Tomato and Olive Tapenade baguette and the Barbs Pizza! Everything was impeccable and the service was top notch too! 100% recommend to anyone Service: 5

Me and my partner went for breakfast! It was nothing like a greasy spoons but more like a well presented meal with good quailty food! The meat was so fresh and tasted amazing! Would highly recommend! We sat out the front in the out door area do to having a dog! Just watch out for the mental wasps that like to torment you but once the staff zapped a few was all gravy! Service: 5

I recently went to meet a good friend Ant Everest here in torrential rain ️ I was saturated as I'd rode my motorbike from Eskdale (Yellow Warning so it was good to be out of the rain for a while. The staff were very accommodating and very welcoming Unfortunately on my way back to Eskdale I had a bad accident on my motorbike which saw it written off but at least I walked away from it Service: 5

This is a cracking place, we had lunch, but the menu would go down well for either lunchtime or evening. The service was superb, the quality of the food was excellent. It is in an excellent location in the town. Super value for money. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Such a busy location. They don't book some tables, but they turn quickly. So no need to worry. So lovely to see a busy pub. A lovely sun trap if you want to watch the world go by outside, but inside its so lovely and cool on a sunny day. Even the locals are happy to help newcomers!!! Safety: Very safe Walkability: Right in the heart of the town. Food drinks: Great choice in the menu, and totally delicious
