"This place is beautiful and is on one of the most stunning beaches in the entire country. There ice cream are amazing. But yeah I am still giving them two stars. One they are not nice. And I mean not nice. English is not my first language and every time I come they make me feel it strong and hard do you have a word for this in English? . Second their food is not great. We once had a pasty and it was still frozen inside. Uuuugh..... You will have better food and much better service at the small cafe right on the other side of the river."

This was a welcome stop after a early start to the day. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was delicious. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Came out in tears. Belittled humiliated. No customer service skill whatsoever. Staff make a scene out of nothing. Absolutely diabolical experience. NEVER would I visit here again in my life. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Very slow service, nearly 30 minutes to make 4 drinks. Tea was slopped over the table and no apology from the lady serving. All the correct things were asked by the server but without any feeling or intent, very poor overall Service: Dine in Price per person: £1–10 Food: 3 Service: 2

Disappointing that in such an amazing location that it was not possible to have a little better quality food served by polite and welcoming staff. I got the impression that they hate tourists. Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

We had the most amazing impromtu lunch here. We ordered the pork belly baguette and chilli jacket potato. We are pork belly snobs and must say it is one of the best we have ever eaten! Generous portion, and even the side salad was bursting with flavour. We don’t normally bother to write reviews but felt we must! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 View menu

First of all the location is amazing. Entitled, rude staff let down the whole experience. Do yourself a favor and try the other cafe furthest from the public toilets. Not a hair net or glove in sight. The server had the customer service and communication skills of a rabid dog. Hopefully the public will vote with their feet so someone else can give this location a try. Service: Dine in

Ordered 4 hot drinks. Took 28 minutes to arrive and not busy. Couple who ordered food and drinks after us received their order, ate and left before our drinks arrived after being prompted. No apologies, when the drinks did arrive they were placed down, half the tea lost as the table was uneven, no apology or offer to replace. Coffees were lukewarm at best as was tea. Staff carried personal mobiles on back pockets. Not a professional outfit. Disappointing.

"From the very start it was a pleasant experience with The Coombe Barton Inn. We made the reservation via email and we received quick, efficient and professional replies from staff, which made the booking process easy. We were greeted by friendly staff on arrival, and...promptly shown to our seat. I felt we were situated in a great place, we were not too close to any other table, but not excluded by ourselves. The restaurant is decorated lovely with fairy lights, and has kept the cosy traditional feel of an English pub/restaurant. Not forgetting the exceptional sea views. The menu was a good size and the special board was an added bonus. We felt well looked after by the staff, who were more than happy to answer any questions I had, as well as put forward recommendations. Service was prompt and in no way felt rushed. Each portion size was the right amount. The food was extremely tasty, I would highly recommend the squid as a starter, as it is one not to be missed. My partner's steak was cooked to perfection and melted in his mouth. The only recommendation I would have is to make a bit more effort with the desserts, saying that, we did enjoy all three courses. We felt the prices, from alcohol to mains, was fair and reasonable. The Coombe Barton Inn was a positive start to our weekend away to Crackington, after visiting from Devon. Although we are not local, we will be sure to visit The Coombe Barton Inn again next time we are in the area."

"Ordered a birthday meal this evening: spring rolls ok, sweet and sour chicken barely tolerable, chicken chow mein wouldn 't feed this to my dogs (and really didn 't). The meal was twenty minutes late but we weren 't too concerned about that as they said at the outset that they couldn 't guarantee a time. However, the quality of food was not to put too fine a point on it disgusting. The chicken in the chow mein was slimy, like slug slimy, or eel slimy, or long dead animal slimy, and totally unpalatable. TBH I was on the verge of contacting the Food Standards Agency (and yet might) as this 'stuff ' was not fit for human consumption. I genuinely refused to feed it to my dogs, much to their disappointment (trust me dogs, I saved you a night of gastric discomfort). Called for a refund and received an inquisition about which bits were ok and which bits weren 't and how much of each of each we had eaten, none of which was relevant to us as we did not want to spend the rest of the birthday evening analysing the quality (or not) of every single mouthful. Eventually they promised a refund for the chow mein (we await receipt of this, it had better arrive). In years gone by this was the best Chinese takeaway in the area, I can only wonder what 'Renaissance ' means in their takeaway world but I 'd substitute the word with 'Road Kill ' or some such. Will never even think about a takeaway from this establishment again."
