I had a delicious and flavorful lunch that was surprisingly good despite the mixed reviews I had read beforehand. As someone who can be picky about food, I was pleasantly surprised by the simple yet tasty meal.

Our favourite pub in Castleton, great selection of drinks delicious food. Real log fire for a warm welcome after a long walk. Friendly helpful staff who are always welcoming. Nearby activities: Hill walking cycling nearby. Blue john mines are well worth a visit. Hotel highlights: Great view, Great value

Disappointing meal. Food drinks: Beware the homemade stew with large whole raw pickled onions in it. They will leave a wash of pickling vinegar at the bottom of your bowl. Not good. We went on a busy Saturday night and they seemed to be struggling. Much more limited selection of vegan options than portrayed on the website and other reviews. Ordered a number of sides as didn’t fancy the one vegan main. Small portions, slightly cold and underwhelming. I know covid is impacting all restaurants but this wasn’t anything like we were expecting from the reviews.

This is a great pub/hotel with amazing staff, a cozy fire, and a dog-friendly bar! They offer vegan options for every course and have three types of netzen to choose from. I tried the vegan burger and the salted caramel cheesecake, both of which were delicious. I highly recommend this place, but be sure to book ahead on the weekends as it tends to get busy on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Friendly local pub in the fantastic village of Castleton in the glorious Peak District. Called in for Sunday lunch and had a very tasty beef stew and my wife had the Sunday Roast. Good value with a good selection of beers. We called in on speck and it was busy. However we didn't have to wait long before a table became available. Having said that it is probably advisable to book a table particularly at the weekend. Service: 5 View menu

We arrived in our motorhome, but were informed by the sign in the car park that no motorhomes or camping were allowed. However, upon speaking with Jack inside, we learned the reason behind this policy. Despite the initial setback, we decided to stay for drinks and ultimately returned the following day for a meal. We opted for the 32oz tomahawk steak, which was meant to serve two people. The meal was incredible, and we even had to request a box to take the leftovers home. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be coming back again. Service: 5 stars.

Welcomed by a complimentary, reserved parking space directly opposite the hotel and exceptional staff who looked after us from the first minute! Home made food was delicious, service was great and a pleasant, quiet seating area at the rear of the hotel/pub. All reasonably priced. The room was spotless, well presented and fitting with the history of the location. Quiet and very comfortable for a good night's sleep. Completely furry friend friendly and an excellent place to stay for an array of local attractions, walks and traditional browsing shops. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again. Based on some good reviews we went here for my wife's birthday. My wife chose a vegan filo pastry parcel and I chose a vegan falafel burger with hummus. The filo pastry was so tough my wife struggled to cut it open; the interior was excessively sweet and not worth the effort. The vegan falafel was tasteless and stodgy, so was the bun. Even the chips (the thin french fries variety) were like cardboard. We both left most of our meals and abandoned any idea of desert. The bar staff did not seem surprised we were unhappy and we were obviously not the first to say the burger was terrible.
