"I came across this pub in The Good Beer Guide a few months ago, and I’m glad I did. The quality of the ale, particularly the Proper Job, was excellent. The service was friendly and welcoming, creating a nice social atmosphere. While the pub is recognized in the Guide primarily for its drinks, it seems that the food is truly impressive. Although I didn’t dine this time, I was very impressed by the fish menu and the dishes I saw being served. I definitely plan to return to try one of the fish dishes."

Probably the best traditional pub on Poole Quay. Real Ales I. Good condition and an amazing seafood menu.

I decided to drop in for a lunch and was fortunate enough to snag the last available table for two! I ordered the fish soup, mushrooms, fish casserole, and fish pie. View menu

The chowder was packed with mussels, prawns, and fish—absolutely fantastic! The service was excellent, with prompt attention even during busy times. Overall, I rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5.

Nice dinner with the family. Staff are all very friendly special mention for Ender, Tanya and Hayley for making our meal so memorable. Food was absolutely incredible, best seafood I’ve ever had. Will 100% be back. I recommend making a reservation as we dined mid week and was fully booked!

Absolutely the best dining experience in Poole! It’s always bustling, so make sure to book a table; however, it's worth the wait if you don't. The fresh ingredients are beautifully prepared, and the service is warm and friendly, even during the hectic rush. I can't recommend this place highly enough! View menu

seafood was fresh and delicious, highly recommend the mussels and the bread was freshly baked and soft. we got the salt and pepper squid however this was not well seasoned and the membrane of the squid was not cut off making it quite chewy. interior is a bit dated however staff were lovely and attentive.

Excellent food, we had a Seafood Chowder, Fish Soup, Catfish, Haddock Pot! Good portions, very tasty, definitely recommended! Docking a point as being sat by the door when it's cold detracts from the experience, for the Gents you have to go outside round the corner which is annoying, young staff need to be a little more observant as it was hard to get their attention, it wasn't busy.

"Booked a table of 5 for my birthday dinner. We were promptly seated then immediately asked for drinks orders before even being offered a drinks menu or water. After we had ordered drinks we were being rushed into ordering some food, every two minutes different waiters coming and asking if we are ready to order (at least 7 times). After we did order and the food was brought out, we were then just forgotten about and nobody came over anymore to check if we needed any more drinks (4 out of 5 glasses were empty) or if the food was ok. (It was- but no one checked). After we had finished dining, we still had empty glasses and had to wait 20+ minutes until we eventually stopped a waiter walking past and asked if we could order more drinks. The drinks then took another 15 minutes to come. It was also very disappointing that although we had mentioned on the booking itself that it was for my birthday, there was no acknowledgement of this (I have been before and had received a plate with ‘happy birthday’ written on it in some kind of sauce with a sparkler). My sister even went to ask the woman working on the front desk and received a standoffish attitude back saying no. When the £235 bill came, it even listed ‘birthday plate £0.00’ on it!!! That really let the evening down. The interactions with the staff themselves were great, they were very polite and personable but the actual level of service of being rushed to order and then totally forgotten about really dampened what could have been a fantastic evening."
