"We would like to express a specoal thanks to the waitress Eva who served us for a late Sunday Lunch today (9/04/23) she was very helpful , courteous, and attentive to our table from the point of arrival to departure. We were celebrating a birthday and Easter Sunday together as a family. Our review would have been higher if the food had been better. We had pre ordered as members of our group wanted roast dinner and 2 did not..despite me calling ahead twice a few days before their was a misunderstanding about one of the meal options. Although the portions sizes were plentiful the plates were dowsed in gravy which made the meals very soggy to eat so we did feel disappointed. We didnt feel the need to mention this as Eva had provided a good service. The desserts were delightful."

Amazing food, fantastic welcoming service along with a lovely atmosphere. If you haven 't eaten for a week order the 'skyscraper burger '!!! It was delicious. Perfectly cooked rare rumb steak also went down a treat! Staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Would definitely return if we are back in the area. Highly recommended!

Came over from the other side of the country to have a holiday and see friends, called in the ship after booking a table. We had good service with plenty of reassures of COVID rules being followed, so allowing us to enjoy our meal. We have scampi and chips, bacon, cheese burger and sizzling chicken all promptly serviced well presented and hot. Thank you for a lovely meal

Dropped in for Sunday lunch, without a reservation whilst visiting Barrow for a sports event. The pub was very busy. The staff were very accommodating and found us a table and took our order before a large family group. We had the pie of the week, and the curry dish, straightforward fare, cooked very well, served quickly, with a great service. Really like Like Robinson pubs and would recommend this one. View menu

Very limited menu and at 19:00 on Saturday at least four of the items were sold out/not available. Steak baguette was shockingly bad, five small pieces, burnt to a crisp and hard as wood. Burger tasted like cheap burgers, not freshly made and over cooked, prices were well overpriced particularly When you factor in the lack of quality and the manager couldn't of cared less. Staff on the other hand were friendly and helpful.

Recently had a bar meal, very courteous staff, but food was very poor cajun chicken was more like a cajun sauce with some lumps of chewy chicken bits floating in it, n some chunky chipson the side, no veg, no salad garnish, no presentation at all left half my meal and was asked if I wanted it boxed to take home errr no thanks, if I couldn't eat it the first time don't want to eat it reheated!! Was never asked how my meal was so wasted £12 on a not very nice meal

Had pre booked for Sunday roast, young lady came immediately with the menus took our drinks order, I did ask to be moved away from the door which she instantly saw to my request , the food was fabulous, we ordered broccoli Stilton soup, chicken goujons, roast beef roast ham dinners which came with creamy mash, 3 roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, carrot turnip, shredded cabbage huge Yorkshire pudding with lashings of gravy, everything seasoned to perfection portions were huge, both wanted sticky toffee pudding but only one left so also added baileys cheesecake to the options £14.95 for 3 courses how exceptional value definitely going again View menu

Came here with friends, anticipating a good night, specifically for the quiz. Variety of ales were purchased, along with some good quality gins.,served by friendly staff. However the whole evening was sport by the actions and attitude of the so called quiz master. The quiz was delivered at break neck speed which made it hard to follow. The quiz master also seemed to have issues with asking for questions to be repeated. He should also learn how to speak and address people, and not speak to people as though they are aged seven. So in a nutshell,if you want to be spoken to as a child attend the Friday night quiz at the ship. Would return only for drinks.

Arranged a delivery from here during the coronavirus situation, came 45mins before predicted time. We ordered the homemade pies, chicken, ham and leek and meat and potato, both came with mushy peas and we asked for chips rather than fries. All were piping hot, excellent chips and an accompanying tray of gravy. The chips came in their own tray and, in retrospect one portion would have easily been enough for both of us. Pies were tasty, the chicken being the nicest, the meat and potato probably needed a bit more seasoning. Quite a range of choices on their restricted Covid menu but we are very grateful to be able to get meals delivered, still being in isolation. Would certainly book from here...

"We visited our old favourite Hartley’s again this evening for only the second time in 2023. We always have a lovely time here but we are guilty sometimes of forgetting just how good the food is! To put it into context we have become “foodies” over the last few years having been spoiled by annual trips to France and a few Michelin Star experiences in the UK. Tonight we went back to the fabulous friendly and laid back experience that epitomises our favourite local restaurant, Hartley’s. From the minute we walked in, it was the usual friendly welcome and banter and wow was the food “on point”. Mrs D had the bruschetta freeing me to have the Squid and both were fabulous. Let’s be honest I don’t really like salad, but the one they do with the squid I could happily just eat on its own and with the pickle it so complements the subtle taste of the squid. For mains I had the sublimely balanced gammon with cream sauce, poached egg potatoes and cabbage. How well each element complements one another, The better half enjoyed the Seabass, which from my shared forkful was equally lovely. I had the delicate rhubarb and ginger crumble for pud while the missus had STP. All washed down with a lovely Chilean Merlot! What a fabulous evening! I said to JD “sometimes we do forget just how good this place is” 5 stars tonight only because I couldn’t give 6!"
