"The hotel is lovely to stay in and the staff are excellent, however, the food is a major letdown. The chef makes a nice fresh full English breakfast, but the sausages are poor and there were no tomatoes for 2 days in a row. The Eggs Benedict are homemade and good. Unfortunately, the food is largely processed and of very low quality due to it being a franchise. The calamari starter was rubbery and dry, and the lasagne was terrible – you can buy better at a supermarket for £2.50. The lamb shank was small and greasy, and the vegetables were raw. The portion of potatoes was tiny and everything was tepid, verging on cold. I received a free pint because I complained. The restaurant used to be busy and have a reputation for great freshly made food, but they need to source proper local food and chefs to get back to that standard. Locals no longer eat there and my complaints are the same as others. I paid £16 for poor processed food and I will not be returning."

Had a wonderful lunch on Saturday. The food was amazing and the service was really good. Would recommend the gammon. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a lovely pub/restaurant with an extensive menu. Offers set meals at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very nice and decor is lovely. One of the best places to eat in the area. Staff were welcoming and helpful

We made a reservation for Sunday dinner and enjoyed three delicious meats at this lovely, clean restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. The next day we returned for breakfast, which was also very good, with freshly cooked dishes.

Stayed here a couple of times. Warm welcome, nice room, good food, good beer and all at a reasonable price. Not too far off the M6 to break a long journey. The recent fire means that inside the shell is a new hotel with everything new so it all works well.

Would recommend, very nice food, we had gammon and chips, sausages and chips, Monteray Jack cheese and bacon burger. Only criticism was that sausages were a bit over done. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and it’s dog friendly, they even have a doggy menu, we got some doggy burgers for our dog (see photo) We will definitely be back!

We made a reservation for 4pm and arrived at a nearly empty restaurant. We were seated at our table and told that someone would be back shortly to take our drinks order. Despite seeing staff cleaning tables and restocking dishes, no one came to assist us. After waiting for 20 minutes, we decided to leave. We had a great experience earlier in the week, but unfortunately, we will not be returning after this disappointing visit.

We stayed here for 4 nights. This Inn has been very tastefully renovated after a fire. Our room was cosy and spotless although we would have appreciated a little more space. We dined in on two evenings and the food was very good, service very quick and efficient. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Good walk alongside the River Lune almost on the doorstep and a bus stops right outside the inn. Would highly recommend. Would love to return one day.

Service and ambience I’ve always found very good but the food is getting worse. It’s expensive and very very poor. I ordered for the chef’s special fish cake which wasn’t actually “oozing” with anything, just bone dry, like a Findus Crispy Pancake. It was divvied up on a plateful of the most unappetising raw green beans, raw cucumber, rotting leaves and a cold and congealed boiled egg. And that’s a Chef’s Special? What a joke. If you’re in the area, go to the superb Patten Arms at Winmarleigh, only a couple of miles away. Much, much better. Sorry for the bad review but it’s right.
