"A small group of us met here for Sat lunch, first time we've visited in a few years. A warm welcome by the young guy working out front on his own. One of our group ordered sausage mash, only to be told there was...no mash! What! Also notified there were no peas either and that broccoli was the substitute! What, no peas! Obviously can't be bothered to just nip to the local supermarket! Another of our group ordered fish chips with mushy peas, fine, no problem, except there was no tartare sauce! With the two grills that were ordered tomato was substituted for the peas, but cold tomatoes? Really?! Expected grilled, surely! The broccoli and carrots served with other meals had obviously been frozen for ages, they just turned to mush. The grilled chicken and gammon were both overcooked and dry. All in all, pretty awful. We would normally have a dessert but declined as didn't want any further disappointment. Service good, but food woeful. I know many establishments are struggling for staff but it's no excuse not to have simple things like mash, peas and tartare sauce available, you're going to struggle if you can't get the basics right and also cook simple food to a decent standard."

I came for a Christmas meal and was disappointed by the lack of organization and subpar food. The staff also lacked social skills. It was my first time visiting and I left unimpressed.

Lovely lunch. We arrived early so it wasn’t busy. We couldn’t use the main restaurant as it was booked for an event so we had to use the bar which wasn’t a problem. The staff were polite and helpful. The food was tasty and hot,...we will return again.

I believe this pub has recently changed ownership. I thought the food and service were both excellent. I have never been let down with my meal here. The dishes are well prepared and a meal for two people, including mains, drinks, and desserts, costs around £30. The atmosphere and service are great, the food is delicious! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

I came with friends for a birthday dinner and was disappointed to find that there was no lemonade at the bar. The server got our orders mixed up - one of my friends, who is autistic, requested a burger with everything on it and it came out exactly as ordered. I ordered pie and chips and asked for extra gravy, but it arrived lukewarm. The chips were cold and some were soggy. We had to send them back to the kitchen.

The only reason inm giving this 3 stars is because of the main meal, and honestly that was the best part. Frankly the service throughout was rubbish. The waitress who brought the food had no idea what on each plate, we had to ask for...cutlery, we had 4 desserts and by the time the last 3 came out, the first one had been eaten. It also took well over 20 minutes to pay our bill despite getting the receipt straight away. It seemed like noone really knew what they were doing, shame really as in the past it was a nice place, I don't think we will be returning any time soon

my daughter booked 10 weeks ago a table for a family start with people from different directions. I tried yesterday afternoon to confirm, but nobody answered. we were all ready to go last night at 7.15 clock for table booked for 7.30 when a family member had phoned and drove past and the place was in dark. At some point someone saw facebook and found a statement that they were closed yesterday. they would think they had the reason to call us so we could have sorted somewhere else. absolutely disgusting, letting people down like that, I would have left the zero stars I would have.

A little late in getting around to posting this review, we went a few Sundays ago for the carvery, the staff were having issues as they had some team members phone in ill that morning. The staff that were on duty were all amazing and...kept smiling even despite the pressure that they were under The food was lovely and plentiful and we will certainly be returning, even if just for drinks What I would say to the tables that maybe had a little wait for drinks or their order being taken, is just be thankful and respectful to the staff that do turn up for work, the hospitality industry has suffered so much over the past 2 years and they like everyone else are still struggling in some areas

booked for a birthday meal with friends and family. this was our fourth visit in white hard, no problems at 3 previous visit apart from long waiting times. but our 4th visit was really bad. no limonade at the bar to change the drink order. extra long waiting times both for beginners and for net, although only about 6 other people in the pub. than finally 2 of the meals did not come as ordered, one was corrected within 5 minutes the other (only one burger) was not received until after each other had finished eating. chips cold, drown almost frozen .. all meal times seemed as if they were sitting in the window waiting for a server to bring as soon as they were ready on their phone! I was a bit...
