"The atmosphere is good enough at Wolsleys with great music and usually a half decent pint. That said, I wouldn’t recommend there if you like cocktails. My girlfriend ordered two Espresso Martinis which I think came to £14. So, not too expensive although I would rather have paid more if it meant getting a drink that we would have enjoyed. As the Espresso Martinis we’re served, I thought we were being given a fancy glass of gravy or Bovril. Eventually, we ended up having to buy another two drinks instead. I’m sure we’ll return back as it is a great pub, but will probably stay clear of cocktails "

Very disappointed last meal here was beautiful but ordered the nut roast and was basically a squash mash with nuts added and no roast potatoes definitely could have done better!!

Went here last night for dinner, and it was soooo good. We where served by very attentive staff. Got a great seat at the window. My husband got ribeye steak and I got a sizzling chicken burger. Both dishes were delicious. We will definitely be back .

We went for the Tuesday burger deal last night and the burgers were amazing…I had the classic chicken burger and my husband had Dirty burger. Both served with chips for just £8.50 each. Staff all very friendly and it was good to see the toilets have been refurbed. View menu

Went in for lunch, it was showing the rugby live so was seated upstairs, which was a bonus for us. The meal couldn’t fault the meal at all, the black and blue burger was outstanding as was the chicken. The added bonus to the day was our server Bobbie, friendly, polite and caring… every establishment should hire a Bobbie lol. A great Saturday day drinking in a great place. Hats off to you all

Restaurant recommended by my mum because we wanted to try something new. Staff were lovely and accommodating however the food was awful ordered prawn to start they tasted like nothing, soggy and watery. Ordered fish and chips for main the fish was grey. My boyfriend ordered pasta which came with rubbery chicken. Staff were very understanding and apologetic. Disappointing because it was recommended. Hopefully the chefs resolve this issue :

"Tl;dr this chef and this team are on their way to a Michelin star, so get a reservation while you can. We visited here Saturday 29, where we enjoyed the tasting menu by current chef John Hollywood. Their tasting menu is averagely priced, comparable to Dublin’s Bastible, with 6 courses actual, and plenty of wine. Aside from the setup, nothing else is average. The staff at Boat House are second to none. The atmosphere is similar to Hof van Cleve, with chirpy, witty staff happily serving customers and following the mood of the table. Their sommelier and wine pairing is particularly special, with each bottle subverting the trend, unexpected, but without compromising on quality (see: Bastible cannot figure out wine). Their sommelier is a wine nerd who’s happy to go into as much depth as you want, but you feed off the passion between courses, which is a really great dynamic between the staff and the table this is rare, usually only achieved at top star restaurants. I’ve never found this in the island of Ireland. The food itself is the perfect mix of foraged from land and sea, each dish testing and surprising you, but with some classics mixed in (beef Barolo your reward for trusting the chef). On the whole, the menu seems designed to subvert comfort you in equal measure, and succeeds with every course. You won’t find the same level of experimentation from many of the Italian tasting menus on the circuit, but that comes with the assurances of consistent quality and a journey that’ll never let you down, where subversive wine pairings inject a level of exciting chaos without risking the food. Between the atmosphere, staff, and chemistry at the table in the kitchen, a trip to Boat House can be held in the same regard as some of the world’s top Michelin star restaurants. They’re on the way. They have the ingredients, whether you know it or not. Better start those birthday reservations now."
