"I came across Chez Jules in an article and decided to visit today with my sister and mom. We traveled from Northeast England and it was definitely worth the trip. We enjoyed a lovely baguette with dressed salad leaves, olives, and delicious cured meats (even though I'm usually not a fan). This was served while we were deciding on our meals. We opted for the lunch special and it was amazing. The French onion soup was light yet decadent, the mussels were delicious, and the vanilla panna cotta was simply delightful. With a large bottle of wine, two soft drinks, the bill came to under £60, which was excellent value. The restaurant was quite busy, so I would recommend making a reservation. The atmosphere was great."

The food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. I will definitely return. The wall decorations were fantastic and showcased a charming rustic vibe.

They were able to accommodate me without a reservation. The food was delightful! A nice sampling of wine. Bustling atmosphere and the service was great!

The restaurant is nice and cozy, though a bit snug. The lunch menu is small but delicious, and the house red wine is excellent. The staff is efficient and friendly.

Great cheap lunch in the centre of new town. We had an excellent lunch here, the menu for lunch is either a special lunch set menu for 13 pounds or you can order off the full a le cart. highly recommend. View menu

Tres, tres bien. Authentic French food and wine with friendly staff and brilliant ambience. Excellent value for money and feels more French than many Bistros in Paris. Great place to go on a dull, grey Edinburgh day. It will lift your spirits but won’t empty your bank balance

We stumbled across this lovely restaurant on our first day in Edinburgh. The waiting staff were helpful and cheerful. A carafe of water and complimentary nibbles quickly appeared. We shared the moules as a starter then we both ordered steaks and were delighted by the quality and flavour of both our dishes. We both had a cheeky glass of booze to wash it down . The final bill was under £50 which in my opinion is excellent value for food of this quality. Well worth a visit.

We’ve tried Chez Jules many times now and will never tire. The food is always consistently great! The 3 course lunch menu for £12.90 is an absolute steal. You get a complimentary salad, bread, olives and a wee bit salami, which is such a generous touch. I got the French onion soup, steak frites and vanilla pannacotta. Everything was packed with flavour and really decent portions too. The place was packed, but service was on point. Hats off to all the waitresses and chefs. Great restaurant. View menu

The first time I went to this restaurant was during the fringe..busy period, so made some allowances for the abrupt staff as the food was ok. Second visit, out of season…still rude and abrupt staff and put this down to the weather. Third time lucky, guess what, the rudeness was in full force. Not the weather or the fringe, I guess this is how they speak to customers. So, if you want an ok lunch, reasonably priced but dont mind being treated like ???? Then this is definitely the place for you.

I visited this restaurant based on recommendations and it didn’t disappoint. Husband ate surf and turf, the lobster and stake was cooked to perfection. I had the lamb which was lovely. We visited on a Tuesday evening in October. Most of The restaurants were quiet In Edinburgh at 8pm, not Chez Jules it was full and had such a lovely authentic atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. I will definitely visit again next time I am in Edinburgh. Booking is recommended due to popularity.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
