"We arrived without a booking and just before the car park was full, as there is limited parking there. We was greeted nicely and shown to our table, as we chose to eat in the Thai restaurant 'the secret garden '. We also ate indoors instead of outdoors. The drinks come from the bar and the food comes from the restaurant, so you will get two separate bills, is you want more drinks you would have to get up to get them also again. Sitting at our table we noticed it was dirty with a couple of food bits on it, you could tell that it was cleaned but you can see that it just wasn 't cleaned properly, so we done it ourselves. The drinks also came in dirty glasses which was off putting also. The staff are friendly which is nice, all the food was really tasty, there was no complimentary prawn crackers, and never noticed them on the menu which is also a shame as we do look forward to having them when we go to any Thai restaurant. Our drinks order was slightly wrong too but we just let that go. Another observation is that when seated unless you are having your order taken or food brought to you the staff aren 't there in case you wanted or needed anything, they could be understaffed so can 't be too critically for that. Nice food, friendly people, just wish they paid attention to detail, as this place could have been a placed we visited more often."

The Coach and Horses is a 500 year old pub with major impact from its Thai restaurant, charming old English architecture housing a good range of ales and beers. Car park butts immediately onto a quiet road and roundabout in charming Newgate Street. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Should have phoned but turned up on spec only to be told they weren’t serving food this week. Also, for the third time recently the Disabled bay -essential for me-was occupied by non Blue Badge car. Neither the clientele or the pub take disabled parking seriously-shame as the food is excellent. View menu

The food is great and reasonably priced however, be warned the pub drinks and your food bill are separate… and the pub drinks are pricey !!! We were charged £2.50 for a soda water when we queried it we were told that was the price for soda from the pump, not even bottled!!! I have never paid for soda water from the pub at other establishment, daylight robbery!! Needless to say this left a bad taste in our mouths, in future I will order a takeaway and get my drinks from the local supermarket!!!

Sunny day and day off from work so decided to go somewhere different for an out door lunch . Lovely garden with really comfortable seats -Thai food was delicious and all freshly cooked . Had mixed starters and Pad Thai -partner had Weeping Tiger with rice -beautifully cooked and presented-too much food for me so the waitress very kindly wrapped it up for me to take home We thought everything was reasonably priced and good value for money.drink’s average pricing Staff were really friendly-will definitely return -will have to book if it’s a weekend -barman says it gets very busy -car park is very small -we parked in the last space and there were not many people in or outside of the pub. Great...

"A slightly bizarre experience we were welcomed warmly, taken to our table, and given a menu for pre dinner drinks. No food menus were brought. We ordered drinks, which arrived, but still no menus! So we asked for them. No wine list brought. So we asked for one. All rather odd. The starters were mixed a bland crab risotto, a rather vinegary tartare, an excellent parfait and a crispy egg which needed to be runnier, but was tasty, if too salty. The odd service continued: three of the four of us had finished do the waiter cleared our plates including the one of our friend who hadn’t finished, who was left holding a cracker in her hand! The mains were again mixed and generally over salty. The ravioli were excellent; the steak good but in a sauce which was heavy handed on the seasoning, the fish pleasant, again slightly salty and verging on the overcooked. We had chocolate soufflé for pudding generally well made and tasty, but again the service was odd an ice cream was pushed into it at the table by the waiter which caused a good amount of soufflé to fall inelegantly onto the serving plate; the cheese plate was an interesting but small selection of well kept cheese. Good petit fours (though we were surprised that one containing nuts was offered to us all despite one of us not eating nuts, which we had mentioned). So probably four stars over all, but only just. It’s good to see the restaurant open again but based on this experience, while it’s fine dining, it’s got some way to go to reach the standard of cooking I’m sure they’d like to aspire to."
