Doi Intanon Thai Ambleside

I have to say this is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in years. Amazing food, attentive staff Went with a friend who hadn’t eaten Thai food before they couldn’t have been more accommodating and helped her select a great curry.

The food was superb and dead quick we came in at 5 and had eaten starters and mains by 5.50. We didn't feel rushed at all and so had another main and desserts and left at 6.50. Portions were a good size smaller than some places but high quality.

We had a takeaway meal for three with a variety of starters, curries and stir fries. The food was well flavoured and attractive. The hotter dishes were not overpowering and others were subtle and delicately scented. The service was friendly and fast. Not cheap, but value for money. View menu

This was a random booking and a wonderful surprise. Deliciously flavoured food, served by friendly efficient staff and set in beautiful surroundings. My companion and I are both vegan the veggie/vegan menu was pretty extensive and the three dishes we tried were very good indeed but there is a larger meat/fish menu which I would assume is equally good.

Visited Doi Intanon on recommendation of a friend and can confirm I was not disappointed! Enjoyed three courses here Gai Satay to start, followed by Gaeng Ped (red curry), and their Fried Ice Cream to finish you really do have to try it! All washed down with a local ale. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was well presented. Will definitely visit again!

Ordered a takeaway which only took 15 mins from order to collection. Slight confusion at collection (missing dish) was quickly resolved. First impressions were the portions were very small in the boxes, but once plated the portions were more than adequate. Quality of both main dishes and starter was really good. Lovely food, great service. Would go back if we was in Ambleside again. This was the only restaurant that put a service charge does say voluntary) on the bill out of all the restaurants in the lakes that we visited. Just my opinion, but I prefer to give my own tip amount, but understand why some restaurants automatically include a service charge. The food was great and thank you for a nice meal.

We arrived without pre booking around 9pm said they could fit us in around 15mins which was fine. Fast friendly service, tasty Thai crackers red chicken curry and Penang chicken curry fantastic ate the lot, along with coconut rice sticky rice and a portion of noodles. The noodles look a bit grey colour but we’re really good. Lovely surroundings upstairs and one of the best Thai meals I’ve ever had. Would rush back next time we visit Ambleside for sure

We have visited Doi Intanon a few times over the years during our numerous stays in Ambleside and have always been pleased. Unfortunately, we were disappointed on our last visit. We felt the portions were skimpy and we don't have particularly large appetites. We were happy with our starters but not the mains. The chicken massamam was watery, consisted of mainly potato with just a few scraps of chicken and the stir fried beef was very tough despite being thinly sliced. The portions of rice were miniscule, unacceptable at almost £5 a portion by the time they add a 10% service charge to customer bills.
