"We celebrated a 16th birthday at the Red Lion with dinner this evening, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was expertly cooked, featuring high-quality ingredients and incredible flavors. I started with the loaded potato skins, which were the best I've ever had—crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, topped with grilled cheese and pineapple. For the main course, I had the Woodland chicken with chunky fries. The chicken was flavorful and moist, topped with grilled mushrooms and cheese. It was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable meal, and I would definitely recommend it!"

"I recently visited for breakfast with a friend. Having ordered our drinks and food it quickly became clear our choice to sit outside was an unwise one due to the number of wasps. We therefore picked up our order and asked a young waitress if we could sit inside due to the issue. She smiled and said of course, please sit where you would like. As the centre room was quite full with only larger tables left we walked into the room on the right to find a smaller table. We sat down and started our much awaited breakfast. Unfortunately, just after settling an older waitress walked in and very abruptly asked where we had come from and why we were sitting there. I explained that we had been outside, but due to the wasps we had come in, we had spoken to a member of staff and been told to sit wherever. The older waitress quickly snapped back at me that we had not been told that and that there was a function in that room later so we needed to move. I explained that it was fine for us to move, but there wasn’t any need to speak to us in such a rude tone. The waitress again snapped back, stating she was not being rude and we shouldn’t have been there and we needed to move. At this point I advised that actually I would rather leave if we were going to be spoken to in such a way, to which the lady just turned and walked away from us. As we were leaving I did speak to the lady behind the bar and said that we were sorry we had left our food and were leaving but unfortunately we weren’t prepared to be spoken to in such a rude way. The same waitress then stepped in again and said she hadn’t been rude to us to which my friend said ‘I’m sorry but you really were’. Clearly this waitress thinks this is a suitable way to speak to customers. Our visit was completely spoilt and not wishing to be insulted any further we left. I have never before been left so astounded and disappointed to the point of leaving a venue before I had barely started the meal I had paid for. We won't be returning or recommending them. I subsequently sent two emails to the manager advising of our awful experience, both emails have gone unanswered. Its clear customer satisfaction is not high on their list of priorities."

"Really disappointed again with a takeaway that is lackadaisical with fulfilling a customer order. Got home and wife not happy as they got her order completely wrong. Not impressed. She ordered special fried rice with king prawns and got basic egg fried rice. We got some brown dish various beef and duck and prawn which we didn 't order. I 'm Hindu and don 't eat beef. The food was average. I was disgusted by the fact they have a sign in reception saying 'CASH ONLY '. I pay my taxes so why can 't they."

"We went to this restaurant for dinner and to watch a football game while we were staying at a nearby lodge. We had made a reservation for 5pm. When we arrived, the man at the bar told us to sit wherever we liked, but mentioned there was a private event in the back. We chose to sit in "the snug," a cozy and secluded area. The bartender brought us menus and informed us that our order would be taken after 5pm, when the chef was ready. The food was delicious, especially my husband's steak pie which was generously filled with tender pieces of meat. However, we were not asked if we wanted another drink or dessert, and felt a bit neglected. When we went to pay at the bar, we inquired about watching the football game, but the sports bar was too crowded. We moved to another section of the bar, where the server told us she would be with us shortly, but then prioritized serving someone else. We didn't feel very welcomed and it seemed like more of a place for regular customers. Although the food was good, we probably won't be returning."

"As a family, we were attending a nearby wedding, but staying overnight in Ellesmere. As we had booked rooms only, we were looking for a Sunday breakfast and The Corner House was just across the street from our hotel. All four of us were extremely...satisfied with our breakfast as we were able to mix and match, or swap items, as long as they were listed on the menu. The portions were very generous and were washed down with cafetieres of coffee and lots of tea. The owners were very helpful and friendly, and the cafe was very welcoming. If we're over this way again, we will definitely pay another visit!"
