"I have been hearing about the delicious lunches here, particularly the gammon steak from my husband. When we visited the area this weekend, we went with my in laws. We didn't order a huge variety. Despite many mouth watering choices, three of us ordered chicken, leek and ham pie and one had the gammon steak. Everything came to the table piping hot, fresh and delicious. The combination of the pie, chips and fresh peas was outstanding. The local beers were flavourful. Service: the owner was very considerate of my father in law who has mobility problems. The area where we were seated was on the level of the entrance. There were no steps and the owner made sure that the seating was comfortable. The wait staff were attentive and prompt, but not intrusive. The décor is pleasant traditional but fresh and clean looking. There is a wood fire in an adjoining room; perfect for a cold evening. A sheltered beer garden is at the front entrance of the pub, under a marquee at the moment, but that may change in the warmer months. I would like to come back in the summer. I hope to make visiting the Edith Weston Wheatsheaf a habit; there were too many dishes I would like to try."
