"Making Chiaia my home base for 2 nights in Naples, I looked for an authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant I could walk to from the Grand Hotel Parker’s. After some quick searching, I found Umberto. Certainly this is a ‘locals’ place, so I was pleased by my greeting and our welcome by the staff as I was appreciative for the acceptance. Umberto definitely lives up to their Neapolitan pizza certification. I’m a big pizza snob, and I’m glad I spent a night dining in environs perfecting the pizza invented in Naples."

From the food (pasta today , to the charismatic waiters, to the ambience (the pictures are great! , everything is unique and wonderful. Excellent and varied cuisine for celiacs. Prices quite high, slightly above average. Understandable though, as we are near via Chiaia. Food was really great, and the staff was really helpful and great! We had reservations but had just flown in from out of country so had to do the take out option unfortunately. Our hotel was walking distance from the restaurant, and it's in a really safe area of town. Would have loved to dine in, as the restaurant itself has such a great authentic Italian feel. I can't say that the food is excellent, nothing special, what is terrible is the welcome from the arrogant, presumptuous owner We entered with the dog and the latter started barking because of the doorbell, the lady addressed me with great rudeness...she could have said before ordering that she didn't like the presence of the dog instead...... .
