"we were here for a few nights while we walk a bit in the galloway hills. I knew that they had a vegan menu, as I mentioned it on happy cow, but if they went to the restaurant, they really wouldn't know! the menu they give, they don't mention vegan dishes, there's nothing they say to ask for the vegan menu and the personal did not mention it! but it really exists! and it offers four vegan netzens that are ideal for a pub in a small town in Scotland! they can choose from a vegan roast, a vegan burger, a penangurry or a sweet potato mushroom tar. we had the first few options that were quite decent if not amazing. expect chips with everything it is, so a place! updated by previous review on 2022-04-11"

"Visited the Cree Inn one year ago at same time of year with my partner. We had an amazing experience. Waiter and chef were so warm and welcoming and the food was delicious, especially the homemade cheesecake. We ended up staying after dinner and having more drinks in the bar because it was so nice. However we returned this year and were so disappointed. Was unsure of serving times so called the restaurant during the day and was advised stop serving at 8.30pm. We arrived at 8pm (having worked in the catering industry prev I know this isn't an ideal time however we were on holiday and time got away it shouldn't have effected service). We were served by a young lad who had no customer service skills and looked like he would rather be anywhere else. We were the only two people in the full restaurant. He then advised us about all the menu options that were not available, which left little to choose from. I advised I would probably just have a starter and desert, while my partner finally decided on a starter and one of the burgers with all the extras. Waiter then came back and said no burgers available. At that point fed up with the negative atmosphere and limited food choice, we decided to just order two starters and then head somewhere else. We got two drinks and two desserts costing only £22 whereas had the service been the same as before and food items actually on the food menu that were advertised we would have easily spent upwards of a £100. When we come back next year we will not return."

"Delicious takeaway to end a lovely family holiday to Newton Stewart. We had a mix of meals, starters and sides prawn/chicken/vegetarian. Good reviews all round! Reasonably priced meals, decent portion sizes. Only things we would have liked to see on the menu that wasn't there was salt and pepper chips and tofu options. Would reccomend this takeaway as good as most across the country. Note: the takeaway is cash only (nearest cashpoint is just over the road). Thank you Dynasty."

"During my holiday in the area, I decided to stop by a riverside restaurant for lunch. It was quite busy, which suggested that many customers were locals, given the warm welcome from the staff. The restaurant had a pleasant and clean atmosphere, creating a nice vibe. The menu offered a variety of appealing options. I enjoyed a delicious meal that was served promptly. I was particularly impressed with the flat white coffee; it was excellent, especially since many restaurants and cafes struggle to do it well. The prices were very reasonable as well. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, and I look forward to returning next year when I’m in the area again."

"What a fantastic little gem. We visited recently as we had a friend visiting from Sussex. Booked in for 7.30pm and as soon as we walked in the door we received a great welcome and shown to our lovely table. Everything you needed but not too much. The restaurant was clean and very presentable with a certain coziness. We had all three courses. Butterfly prawns and haddock goujons, served with salad and dips were our starters. We then had burgers and haddock and chips again served with a lovely salad and dips. Out desserts were knickerbocker glory, a trio of ice cream and sticky toffee pudding. To be honest, we all agreed that, all the dishes were absolutely superb, and the best meal out that we had had for a very long time. Fantastic food, fantastic service and a fantastic place for a meal. They are not licensed, so be sure to take your own alcohol. They do serve soft drinks however."
