"I first visited this pub more that 12 yrs ago when daughter was at Southampton Uni. Its quite difficult to find, but well worth the search, right on the banks of the River Hamble, thousands of private yachts in the marina. Parking is however a little awkward, you park on a narrow road, and have to walk down some steps to reach the pub. Ot park at Burseldon station, and walk along the path for 200 yds. It was busy on a Wednesday lunchtime, but I order a pint and a steak sandwich , and all was served with commendable efficiency. There is a more extensive dinner menu in a restaurant area. A really nice spot, pity about the accessability."

Food was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. A good spot in the summer. A nice menu that showed imagination away from the usual pub food.

2nd time eating here for Sunday Lunch. Service and hospitality is wonderful. Unhurried service with delightful staff. Food is delicious with generous portions. Really enjoyable and very much worth the visit.

The setting of this pub is gorgeous, located at the bottom of a short path next to the water. Our large group was easily accommodated, and we enjoyed sitting outside on a nice day. While the service was nothing exceptional, the food was delicious.

This is a top place for Food, try the Stargazy Pie a superb choice. Amazing view from the seating area outside and the windows on the perimeter of the pub, also a great atmosphere inside with decor including some old bric-a-brac to add to the character of this great eatery. A firm favourite since we found this classic pub. View menu

The location of this classic old pub is worthy of five stars, but the typical British lack of customer service and amazing food brings my overall rating for this pub to 3.5/5 which unfortunately means 3 stars on yelp. Off the beaten path, this traditional gastro pub is beautifully set off a little road and on a quiet marina. and down some old stairs

Just had a fabulous meal here. The restaurant is beautiful and homely with open beams and a huge fire place in the bar. Very cosy feel, loads of charm and helpful friendly attentive staff. Would be perfect in the day also with a terrace outside. Leading out on to the marina beach. We shared the Mixed Jesse to start which was lovely my main was a good size and my addition of a meat option was not a problem. The menu is at a good price Just a fantastic venue. Such a good find.

Our table was booked for 12:45 and two of the four of us had starters which didn’t arrive till 1:30 and the mains didn’t arrive till 2:15!!! Even though they didn’t charge us for the three desserts we had, as compensation, we had ordered more drinks as the time dragged on. So they had more money from us. The girls were very apologetic but the previous time we went a couple of years ago service was nearly as bad so it had put us off. But we gave it another chance as food good. However this has maybe put us off for good now. Shame. View menu

The pub has a great location and views, but unfortunately the food did not live up to its reputation. We ordered sandwiches for lunch, which were just okay. The bread seemed to be processed and not fresh bakery bread, and the fries were clearly from a bag. The homemade desserts menu had mixed results - the treacle tart was excellent, but the sticky toffee pudding was cold and rock solid. Overall, the food felt more like Brake Brothers food than fresh, homemade dishes. We were very disappointed and wouldn't return, as there are many other great pubs in the area with better food.

The Jolly Sailor is located in a beautiful pub by the river. However, the food was forgettable and overpriced, and the beer was very expensive. I went there with my partner for our anniversary meal. The beer was good but pricey at £4+. We ordered the Vegetarian Pantry, which was a mix of dishes, but the roast vegetable portion was not available and was replaced with a disappointing salad. The manager apologized for the poor quality of the dish, but the overall experience was unsatisfactory. This chain pub needs to improve its attention to detail and customer service. We will not be dining there again in the near future.
