Meat People - Menu

Today was a media lunch at a place on the site of S&M (sausage mash, perverts), next door to the Winchester.

Attempting to draw Londoners away from their steak and burger fixation is an admirable goal, but Meat People isn’t the runaway success it should be.

The place has very good food, especially the pork and beef sandwiches. Cosy place, good service. Been before to have steak as well, also really good!

beautiful place with retro feeling and very friendly service. I had a rib eye sandwich that was very tasty. the meat and the egg was nicely cooked, accompanied by fluffy chips. I would like to come back soon and try other things!

Dessert brought upon Malbec poached pear, cinnamon, star anise, mascarpone ice cream. An overcooked pear, beyond rescuing by lime zest and cloyingly, annoyingly too sweet. The ice cream was a lucky addition and a better morsel. What made matters worse was that when I informed the waitress at the end that I thought the pear was too sweet, her reply was “But it’s poached in Malbec. It can’t be too sweet. You don’t know what you’re talking about”.

Overall, a very successful meal (the above came to £48.40 without service), and I’d encourage you to go. If I do have a reservation, however, it’s that I don’t know quite who it’s trying to appeal to. Inside it feels like a caff – as indeed it was, and I suspect most if not all of the lovingly-preserved interior is listed anyway, so that isn’t going to change. But the food’s a good notch above that, both in quality and (critically, I think) in price. So it’s proper

I had managed to forget how bad this place was until I came back today. a family early evening meal. the waitress who sounded French, but clearly did not know how to open the bottle wein we ordered. a mysterious guy who made cocktails bad. although we had ordered two identical, they came in completely different sizes! one of us had a very good piece of steak. the other two shared the selection plate. all three pieces of meat seemed to be of low quality, nothing like the good steak that our friend had. the pork presa iberica was enormously colonized. every Spanish chef would show them that it is almost pink nowadays. this piece was leathery. combined, poor service, bad quality meat, bad cooki...

We arrived to the restaurant for a date, we were sat to the table promptly as we were the only customers at that time. However, though we ordered quickly, our food took 40 minutes to arrive. Our main courses of steak weirdly arrived before our...starters. The steak was great, but the burrata on the other hand was very dry, and not real burrata. After we informed the waiter that it was mozzarella and not creamy milky burrata, he returned from the kitchen with the container it came in to prove something to us.
