"Ok, so it was busy, I get that but a warning that we 'd have to wait nearly 40 mins for a sandwich and soup would have been nice. When the food did eventually arrive a simple..... 'sorry for your wait ' .....would have gone far, but no, nothing. Upon departure we went to the counter to pay, not much verbal communication from the counter person....a smile or 'how was your meal? '....just told us the total £29....no offer or receipt or bill so no idea if the amount was correct) but worst of all no 'thank you '.....left feeling like I 'd experienced really awful service. Very disappointing"

Loved it. Staff were in complete control on what was a busy day. They also made me laugh which is a priceless element of good service.

Hebden Bridge was the first town in the UK to ban plastic bags, it sits comfortably nestled in wonderful Lancastrian hills and the houses are mainly grey

It's a lovely little cafe but the staff were so rude and unfriendly xx it's like they had a bad taste in there mouth and it wasn't the food xx I don't think I'm going there again What a SHAME

Absolutely excellent food (again). Warm and welcoming on an icy December day. I had a lovely ciabatta sandwich, halloumi and peppers. My wife had a falafel salad which she said was wonderful. View menu

The Scottish lady at the front of house was so lovely, I had just come in from the pouring rain and she made me some tea (it was very nice) and the atmosphere was really nice. The staff make the whole experience. Really recommend.

Unfriendly which is a shame. Nice venue with decent coffee, unfortunately the staff made no effort to be pleasant. When our orders arrived there was no cutlery provided and the toast was basically warm bread. We left feeling our custom wasn’t valued, which doesn’t bode well for the business.

This is a nice cafe and we have been a few times as we live in Hebden and it stays open until eight. However, like other reviews I must say some of the staff are very unfriendly and having waited for about fifteen mins we asked if we could place our order. We were greeted with a very sullen reply. I noticed then that the staff were laughing and looking at our table. The Scottish staff member is terrific and never anything but helpful. View menu

This place looked really inviting from outside and had a nice atmosphere inside. We both had a chai latte and each had a slice of cake. The cake and drinks were lovely. But, the attitude of the young lady who served us left a lot to be desired. She was quite abrupt and left you feeling like you'd really put her out to have to serve you. We were on the point of just saying to leave it and go. I don't understand why people are like that in the service industry.

Very busy Saturday afternoon visit, but the staff are always super friendly and welcoming. Michelle met us with a smile and found us a table, and all of the staff were efficient, friendly, and professional. We had some delicious food including freshly made tomato soup, houmous, sandwiches and teas, all of which were very tasty. This is a gem of a place. It beats the reception we have received in other cafes' hands down. It is consistently excellent with a warm and welcoming ambience. For me, though, it's the friendly staff that makes this the best bit of Hebden. Thank you.

"Really unfortunate our last experience was so poor compared to when we visited in the summer. Visited as a family on a Sunday and was surprised there was seating for us, we were grateful. Lovely atmosphere and nicely decorated. No staff members to be found but sign said to help ourselves to a table. Don’t like the ordering at the bar thing but that’s personal preference; however makes it feel very much like a Wetherspoons. After ordering, we asked where our food was as we were waiting more than 40 minutes. It came a few minutes later. Kids chicken and chips, absolutely fine. My partner’s steak was beautifully cooked to his preference and seasoned well. I ordered a burger which stayed it was “smothered in melted cheese”. Two slices of cold cheese on top, with a burnt to a crisp burger bun underneath. How they thought it was okay to serve this is beyond me. I took it to the bar, got an apology muttered at me. Two minutes later it came back with a fresh bun, but everything else plonked on top, clearly microwaved as was overly hot and the cheese shrivelled up and dry. Undercooked soggy bacon on top, way too salty. One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had (which after having a quick scan through the reviews, I’m not the only one). Ordered desserts, which were very good. Christmas pudding stayed it came with a brandy sauce, my partner asked if it was a creamy sauce. The woman behind the counter had no idea at all. What turned up was custard? Which was unusual. But the actual Christmas pudding was lovely. Think we will try again but hope the mounting negative reviews are listened to. It’s such a good spot, especially in summer so would be a waste if the quality didn’t match."
