"We really enjoyed an excellent meal. The menu was extensive and varied. Prices have increased since our last visit (haven't every venue). It was a week day lunch time so was quiet hence not possible to rate atmosphere but I get impression it would be buzzing at weekends. Dog friendly and good level access to car park. Dietary restrictions: Pie menu highly recommended. Flexible options. Parking: Adjacent parking with level access Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible when quiet but layout might make it more tricky at peak times"

I had a fantastic gluten-free meal here. The menu offered a variety of options, all clearly labeled. They also understand the importance of using a dedicated fryer. View menu

The food here is absolutely incredible. The pie menu is fantastic, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. The price per person is around £70–80. Overall, I’d rate the food, service, and atmosphere a perfect 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Homemade Chicken, Ham, and Leek Pie!

Went on a Sunday evening, and it was run by teenagers. Poor service other customers were very rude and pushy. This set us up for a bad evening from the start but in fairness the food was good just a shame younger people cannot do customer service. Think some training is needed to improve the overall customer experience Price per person: £20–30

"The Fox inn is situated on a bend in Great Ryton, just minutes walk away from where we were staying. The owners really couldn’t do any more to avoid any spread of Covid as there are sanitisers and signage as well as floor markings and...of course, table service much to the sarcastic delight of the wonderful curmudgeonly landlord who greeted us. The menu includes vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options and it reliably informs the reader that an allergen listing is available on request, so all bases are surely covered there. Spicy pork bites as a starter which was served in a sticky honey and soy glaze. Tasty but rather messy. For mains we opted for the vegetarian platter and rack of ribs. Be prepared as the vegetarian platter is basically deep fried. Garlic mushrooms, chips, chilli beer battered halloumi fingers with garlic bread a small olive feta bowl. All tasty but a bit of salad would’ve been welcomed. The rack of ribs were “fall off the bone meaty” served with red slaw and chips. Interestingly enough this dish came with a small side salad, when it wasn’t really needed. Also, rather much needed a finger cleansing bowl and extra napkins, which we thought was a nice touch. Not being put off by the huge amount of calories we’d obviously already imbibed, we chose the Bakewell tart and ice cream and a salted caramel and fudge ice cream sundae. Beware! The sundaes are huge but then at they should be, though worth every sweet mouthful!"
