The Red Lion - Menu

Tried to book and was told I couldn’t as the boss was on holiday?!! They said they had space but just not allowed to book. Craziness!

Food was adequate but pricy extras and desserts. They decided to close the bar 9pm on a Saturday. Never had that before. It wasn't that quiet. Needs new management.

Poor Sunday lunch and very expensive for what it was, I would not go there again. Beef was over cooked and tough as old boots. I think the potatoes were from frozen, cauliflower cheese was rock hard, the desert was also a mess View menu

Went for Sunday lunch, food great, good vegetarian option as well as usual roasts. Both vegetarian option and roast beef very nice. Excellent service, our waitress was really lovely and accommodating to my very elderly mum. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to the Red Lion, and certainly won't be our last! What a lovely pub in a great location The food is amazing I had the best sea bass meal I have ever had, and the pulled pork burger, that my husband had was just as good. My third trip recently: this is a great location, super views, and with window seats that allow that gentle relaxed gazing. Service was really excellent, and the food was great (the spiced cauliflower soup is lovely). The beer: interesting choices but not in tip-top condition, something I remember from previous visits re-COVID: is this a cellaring problem? Or is it served too soon? Our visit was entirely spoilt by a group of screeching, cackling women, who were so noisy other customers literally couldn't hear themselves speak. We left as soon as we were able, as did at least three other couples, some of whom had planned to eat there. The youngish staff made no attempt to have a quiet word with the group, as a landlord with authority would certainly have done. We were there at 4.00 p.m., so not a time you'd expect this rowdy behaviour.

When we arrived it was clear the pub was busy. Was a beautiful day and there lots of people in the garden. Planned to order a late lunch for the three of us that was until we went to the bar and met the grumpy bar person. I wanted to order a cider and was told apple or blackcurrant and when I asked how dry/sweet they were I was told they are ok. I ordered a beer instead. When I asked how long approximately would be the wait for food as we could see they were busy, he just said “a long time” and couldn’t tell me. We paid for our drinks and left. Lost the pub our business, would have been lunches and desserts plus drinks, but thanks to him we walked.

For the third time this year for us the Pub was closed, despite checking their wed site before we arrived to make sure it was open. On arrival the garden looked empty and sure enough after choosing a seat in the garden and venturing into the pub to order I was greeted with “you all right “ from what what turned out to be stall, management, owners. I said I was ok thanks and was headed off at the door by a member of staff saying we are closed and pointing at a closed sight on the door. No that’s fair enough but why not change your opening times on your wed site if your going to closed or even put a sign at the entrance to the car park so we don’t have to go through the process of parking gett...
